ABOUT TURNING POINT RECOVERY CENTER, INC.

Turning Point Recovery Center, Inc., is a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility in Albuquerque, N.M. The facility makes use of the 12 Steps in combination with evidence-based approaches to help adults overcome addictions to alcohol, heroin, opiates, cocaine, prescription drugs, and other substances. Available levels of care include detoxification, residential treatment, intensive outpatient (IOP) care, and individual counseling. It is one of only 8 residential facilities with detox services in the state of New Mexico.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Programming at Turning Point is built upon the philosophy and the principles of the 12 Steps. In order to achieve freedom, the facility believes, clients must reach and maintain absolute abstinence from their substance of choice. Those experiencing withdrawal symptoms are encouraged to schedule an assessment to determine if detoxification, whether on an inpatient or outpatient basis, is necessary. Following a medically monitored detox of three to 10 days, clients can then enter either residential or IOP care.

In the residential program, clients stay for an average of 28 days, during which time they’ll attend group and individual therapy, 12-step meetings, and adhere to random drug testing. The IOP is similar in its offerings yet meets only three evenings a week as to facilitate commitments to work and family. The IOP is typically completed in 10 weeks and is a suitable step-down option following residential care. Turning Point also provides weekly individual counseling for those seeking to solidify their gains made in a higher level of care.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Turning Point Recovery is founded and owned by a state-licensed counselor who has more than 20 years of experience in treating substance abuse and mental health disorders. Also on staff are licensed and master’s level counselors and social workers, a certified nurse practitioner, and support personnel. It is among the 15 percent of Joint Commission accredited facilities in that state of New Mexico.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

In addition to its residence, Turning Point runs a sober living house that serves IOP participants seeking a more structured and supportive environment in which they can build their long-term sobriety upon. The home has straightforward accommodations that include shared bedrooms, a full kitchen with dining table, and communal space with couches and a TV.

Slightly more luxurious, the Detox House boasts an outdoor garden as well as a library/common area with leather couches and a fireplace.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

In the single Rehabs.com survey to date, an anonymous alum described the treatment staff as incompetent, unfriendly, and unqualified. However, they gave only one-out of five-star ratings for areas such as treatment effectiveness, the counseling options, exercise and leisure options, and holistic opportunities.

On Google and Facebook, however, Turning Point has excellent average ratings of 4.0 and 4.4 out of five stars, respectively, from 16 Google reviewers and 12 Facebook users.[^1[2] Despite some criticism, feedback was by and large positive. “Turning Point is amazing in all areas,” wrote Morgan in a representative five-star statement. “Not only did they help with my substance abuse issue but also with my family and events from the past. Gave me tools for the future and a lifelong contact for recovery.”

FINANCING

Turning Point Recovery accepts most commercial health insurance plans. It is among the 70 percent of New Mexico facilities to accept private insurance in some form or another.

[1] https://goo.gl/UPwgwv
[2] https://www.facebook.com/pg/TurningPointRecoveryCenter/reviews/?ref=page_internal
