<p><strong>ABOUT PRESBYTERIAN - SERVICES AND CENTERS - BEHAVIORAL HEALTH</strong></p> <p>In operation for more than 100 years, Presbyterian is a <strong>nonprofit healthcare system</strong> dedicated to serving individuals and communities of New Mexico through a number of hospitals. Taking place in two separate units, one for children and teens and one for adults, inpatient care includes <strong>assessments and consultations</strong>, programming for substance abuse, links to community supports, and <strong>crisis intervention</strong>.</p> <p>There is also an <strong>intensive outpatient program (IOP)</strong> for adults struggling with substance abuse. In this eight-week program, broken up into 24 sessions, which are available in both mornings and evening, licensed addiction therapists help adults <strong>develop effective coping skills</strong> and learn about the addiction and recovery processes from emotional and biological perspectives. Graduates of IOP typically continue with the program’s <strong>aftercare support group</strong>.</p> <p><strong>Individual substance abuse counseling</strong> is designed to help teens and adults improve their various life skills to promote recovery. These skills may include <strong>refusal skills, communication skills, assertiveness</strong>, stress reduction, and more. In New Mexico, Presbyterian is among the <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/NM17.pdf" target="_blank">30.9 percent of facilities</a> to provide specialized programming for adolescents.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>Presbyterian's behavioral health team consists of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurse practitioners and registered nurses, psychiatric social workers, therapists, and behavioral health technicians.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>According to the facility's website, patients in the hospital's inpatient program are housed in <strong>private rooms</strong>. The single Rehabs.com survey respondent gave the hospital five stars for its accommodations, meals, and the facility's overall cleanliness. </p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>The single Rehabs.com survey respondent to date, an anonymous alum, gave this Presbyterian facility mostly five-star ratings for a dozen different areas evaluated, including the staff’s level of training and experience, family participation, and the effectiveness of co-occurring disorder treatment. “Was good for me," they wrote.</p> <p>Reviews on secondary sites are more negative. Five out of six Google reviewers gave the hospital's behavioral health unit only one out of five stars. Jacque complained that the hospital refused to accept her child “even tho she said she was suicidal and there were several examples of her risky behavior, including self harming behaviors."<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> Lurea, another Google reviewer, however, wrote of her son’s involuntary yet highly successful time spent in treatment. “Although my son hated being there he admitted that it was actually a nice place and was taken care of,” she wrote.</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>All Presbyterian hospitals accept private insurance, as well as self-payment in the form of cash, checks, debit and credit card.
