ABOUT THE SALVATION ARMY ALBUQUERQUE'S ADULT REHABILITATION PROGRAM

Founded in 1865, the Salvation Army is now one of the world's most well-known Christian evangelical organizations. It has more than ten thousand community programs, hostels, shelters, and other facilities around the world.

Located in northern Albuquerque, N.M., The Albuquerque center is a private nonprofit, which make up about 44 percent of all New Mexico treatment centers; it is one of the 14 (10.3 percent) of New Mexico facilities that offers long-term residential services. It also offers a senior residence, disaster services and a family services department. There are many such rehab centers around the country, including facilities in Tucson and Phoenix, in neighboring Arizona.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

According to The Salvation Army's website, the adult rehabilitation programs (ARPs), offered at 252 facilities, provide residential care that uses a social model. Residents play an active role in healing one another through the therapeutic community. This model also helps residents to acquire social skills and build a sober network, which can provide long-term sobriety support.

In addition to the support of the community, residents receive individual and group counseling, spiritual guidance, and a healthy living environment. Work is the other large component of treatment: residents work in Salvation Army thrift stores and learn to keep a regular schedule and manage a job.

Through these foundations, as well as a growing relationship with Jesus, the program hopes to help clients to build an orderly and fulfilling way of life. The program also includes recreational therapy, designed to help residents remember the fun to be had without intoxicating substances.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its treatment staff; however, both the alumni polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the facility three out of five stars for its staff's level of training and experience.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its living arrangements and related offerings. The two alumni surveyed by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave four- and five out of five stars for its cleanliness, accommodations, meals/nutrition, and exercise and leisure offerings.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The two alumni surveyed by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing provided mostly positive feedback, and indicated they would recommend the Salvation Army's Albuquerque program.

Both reviewers praised the center's basis in faith: "It.is strong on GOD and the 12 steps program," R.H. wrote in a representative review.
