ABOUT INTERMOUNTAIN LDS HOSPITAL - DAYSPRING PROGRAMS

Intermountain LDS Hospital - Dayspring Programs in Salt Lake City, Utah offers a comprehensive, hospital-based continuum of care for individuals seeking treatment for chemical dependency. The facility offers a partial hospitalization program (PHP), an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and an aftercare program.

Detox is available on site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Upon admission to Intermountain LDS Hospital - Dayspring Programs, clients meet with a clinician for an initial biopsychosocial assessment, which helps determine a diagnosis and appropriate treatment approach. Clients in need of stabilization are admitted to the detox program. After detox, clients are enrolled in the outpatient services that best fit their needs.

The Dayspring Program may utilize medication-assisted therapy such as Suboxone, Vivitrol, Campral, and Antabuse to minimize withdrawal symptoms and help curb cravings. The Dayspring Program combines evidence-based treatment methods with 12-step philosophies and practices. Once a detox completes the detox phase of treatment, patients receive a range of rehabilitative programming, which provides the tools necessary for a lasting recovery.

During PHP or IOP, patients participate in individual and group counseling sessions. They also participate in educational workshops that may focus on coping skills, the biological and psychiatric effects of addiction, and relapse prevention techniques. During treatment, patients are expected to attend 12-step meetings of their choice within the community.

Family participation in treatment is encouraged at every step. Family members can attend family therapy and education sessions with clients. Family sessions are held on Monday and Thursday evenings.

Aftercare services include counseling groups and planning services. Clients work with counselors to develop an effective aftercare plan including connecting with community-based support programs. Aftercare groups are held each Tuesday and Wednesday evening.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The Dayspring Program employs a multidisciplinary team of board-certified psychiatrists, licensed counselors, registered nurses, and behavioral health technicians. The facility has high ratings on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Intermountain LDS Hospital - Dayspring Programs has limited information about the rehab facilities. The hospital is generally clinical in nature with many specialized medical facilities throughout. There is a cafe on site where clients and their families can eat. There is also a range of support services to arrange transportation and other hospital services. The two individuals polled on the facility’s accommodations at the time of this writing both gave five out of five stars to the facility’s cleanliness and upkeep. One of the survey respondents, a mother of a client, also praised the facility’s “security features.”

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The one alum polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing praised most aspects of the facility, offering a rating of five out of five stars for its counseling options, the amount of family participation, and the treatment staff’s level of training and experience. “Very well trained & experienced staff. All very caring!” J.C. wrote. Reporting sustained sobriety, the alum added: “Going there was one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life!” The lowest rating the alum gave was a two-star rating for the facility's holistic offerings.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

At the time of this writing, one loved one, the mother of a patient, provided feedback to Rehabs.com about this facility. The review was mostly positive, with five out of five stars for the facility’s discharge planning and four stars for its counseling options.

Yet the mother did provide a three out of five star rating for the level of family participation. Although admitting some of the other patients made her uneasy, the mother wrote: “I felt confident that she would be safe and no one would know that she was there unless I wanted them to know.” The loved one also gave two out of five stars for the facility’s holistic offerings.

WHAT STAFF SAY

The sole employee polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing felt the facility was highly effective, rating its overall treatment quality with five out of five stars.

Despite this, the former employee did write that since leaving his job, he has heard some patients have been going through detoxification just so they can receive Suboxone to sell. “That says to me that Intermountain Healthcare no longer allows discretion in who the docs can admit for non-life-threatening detox,” the staffer wrote.

FINANCING

LDS Hospital accepts most private insurance plans, Medicare, and Medicaid. Financial assistance is available to underinsured or uninsured clients who financially qualify. Financial assistance may include treatment discounts, no-interest payment plans, and sliding-fee scales based on clients’ income. The hospital can also help clients qualify for government and community-sponsored financial assistance programs.
