Editorial Review

ABOUT SOLUTIONS OUTPATIENT SERVICES

Providing family-centered recovery to the Dallas, Texas area since 1995, Solutions Outpatient Services offers outpatient treatment to adults struggling with substance use disorder. The facility also provides a separate intensive outpatient program (IOP) for individuals with eating disorders. In 2017, there were only 79 substance abuse treatment centers in Texas (just 18 percent) to provide treatment for other behavioral health disorders alongside drug and alcohol misuse.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Two-hour assessments, hour-long consultations, and crisis interventions can also all be made by appointment. In addition to substance abuse screenings, Solutions is among the 59 percent of Texas treatment facilities to provide screenings for mental health disorders.

Programming at Solutions Outpatient Services is guided by the belief that addiction is a disease. All programs work in a structured, phase-like model, helping participants and their families advance towards recovery at a steady, gradual pace. Programs also follow the 12-step model and provide groups on relapse prevention, stress and anger management, and grief resolution.

In Phase 1, a period typically completed in 10 to 12 weeks, men and women attend four nights of therapy. On two of these nights, they’ll be joined by family. In Phase II, two to four weeks in length, outpatients meet only two nights a week, each of which encourages family participation. The third and final aftercare phase lasts a year and involves monthly process groups for clients and families alike.

Structured similarly around three distinct phases, Soul Food is Solutions’ IOP for the medically stable adult who is struggling with eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, or binge eating. Along with the 12-step model, clients benefit from evidence-based approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), the latter of which is utilized by less than half (44 percent of treatment facilities in Texas. Clients also attend issue-specific groups covering nutrition, body image, meditation, spirituality, and more. A three-day family program provides loved ones with opportunities for engagement.

Finally, Solutions runs a dedicated track for those in need of assistance with the transition back to life following inpatient treatment. The eight-week transitional program begins with four nights of therapy a week and tapers down to two nights a week. Program graduates receive free aftercare for an entire year.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Solutions Outpatient Services' treatment team includes licensed chemical dependency counselors, licensed clinical social workers, and licensed professional counselors (LPCs). The center also consults with a board-certified addiction psychiatrist.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

While Rehabs.com has not yet received any reviews from this facility’s alumni, Solutions earned two five-star ratings on Google[1], along with one one-star rating. The two former clients who had positive experiences described Solutions as a place with effective programs, helpful staff, and beneficial family and aftercare services. "This place changed my life!" Grace wrote in a representative review. "The staff is absolutely incredible... Additionally, their family group meetings and family weekend were extremely beneficial!...I continue to come back for their aftercare program (a free group of SOS alumni)."

The one unhappy alum, Jo Ke, claimed that the facility did not keep their information confidential. The facility responded to this claim, noting that "the client’s confidentiality and well-being are of utmost importance to us" and asked the reviewer to contact them directly.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The one loved one polled by Rehabs.com to date, a 26-to-39-year-old female, gave Solutions mixed feedback. While she awarded the facility four out of five stars for its cleanliness, its administrative and discharge procedures, and its family participation, she gave the facility just one or two out of five stars for its counseling options, its affordability, its treatment of co-occurring disorders, and its staff's level of training and experience. She described the cost as "ridiculous," and claimed that the staff exhibited inappropriate behavior.

FINANCING

According to the facility's website, Solutions works with most insurance companies on an out-of-network basis.

[1] GoogleReviews
