<p><strong>ABOUT KNOXVILLE AREA RESCUE MINISTRIES (KARM)</strong></p> <p>Founded in 1960 and located in Knoxville, Tenn., Knoxville Area Rescue Ministries (KARM) is a <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/KY17.pdf" target="_blank">private nonprofit facility, which make up about 51.8 percent</a> of all treatment facilities in Tennessee; it is one of the 55 (15.3 percent) of Tennessee centers that <strong>offers residential treatment services</strong>. It exists “to seek to rescue the poor and needy of the Knox area by providing recovery services in Jesus’ name.” KARM <strong>provides more than 1,000 hot meals daily and houses nearly 400 people a night</strong> across its various emergency shelters and <strong>residential recovery programs</strong>.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>According to Knoxville Area Rescue Ministries' website, the <strong>residential recovery program for women</strong> is called “Serenity.” </p> <p>Programming includes a curriculum <strong>life skills classes, job training, and mentorship opportunities</strong> within the local community, all designed to help clients achieve independence. The program is also biblically-based, so women may receive <strong>spiritual support</strong> across private and group therapy sessions.</p> <p>KARM’s <strong>men’s recovery program</strong>, per the organization’s webpage, “is currently on hiatus while the program is being revamped for greater capacity and ministry.”</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>Beyond its board of directors and upper management, the organization provides no additional information regarding its treatment staff. Programming at KARM does, however, rely on the volunteer efforts of individuals and community groups. The one alum polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave five out of five stars for the staff's support. </p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>Serenity supports <strong>up to 30 women at a time</strong>. They receive three meals a day, seven days a week, along with a hot shower and a clean bed.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>The one alum surveyed by Rehabs.com to date gave positive feedback, and five out of five stars for treatment effectiveness and exercise. The alum also noted they recommend Knoxville Area Rescue Ministries and that treatment was worth the cost. </p> <p>"My time was really a time of recovery and restoration, brokenness and healing...it was a Christ centered/Bible based program, structured around the Genesis Process," they wrote. </p> <p>To date, <strong>the 126 people who left Google Reviews gave an average of 3.6 out of five stars</strong> and positive commentary. However, reviews are for the entire ministries.
