ABOUT CORNERSTONE PROJECT CENTERVILLE OFFICE

The Cornerstone project operates three facilities in southwestern Ohio: two in Dayton and one in Springfield. Each office provides intensive outpatient and outpatient medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for adults seeking treatment for opioid addiction. The Centerville office is located on a leafy suburban street south of downtown Dayton. Detox is not available.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Cornerstone offers Suboxone treatment accompanied by therapy. 37.9 percent of facilities in Ohio provide MAT treatments using Suboxone. Clients meet with medication managers to get access to medications multiple times per week. That way, they can be monitored and the medications can be adjusted as needed.

Cornerstone offers counseling in addition to MAT treatments. Clients meet with counselors several times each week to address the underlying factors of their addiction. Therapists help clients identify these factors and find new ways of addressing them so that they will be less likely to relapse. Therapy covers a range of topics including depression, anxiety, grief, and stress.

In addition to counseling, Cornerstone also offers parenting and family support. Counseling is offered in individual and family settings. One alum polled by Rehabs.com indicated that treatment was strongly based on the 12-Steps program, which is used in 73.1 percent of Ohio’s treatment facilities.

If needed, clients can take advantage of the facility’s transitional services and social services. The facility provides support for clients focusing on helping them get the basics that they need to survive outside of treatment. These include housing, work, and continued care resources so that clients can avoid problem behaviors and start a sober lifestyle.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The treatment team consists of certified addiction counselors and trained medical staff members that oversee MAT treatments. The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date on the staff's level of training and experience gave it a five out of five star rating.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

At the time of this writing, three alumni provided feedback to Rehabs.com about their experience at the Cornerstone Project. Two of the alumni polled about additional metrics would recommend the Cornerstone Project's Centerville office, and stressed the caring and compassion they experienced at the facility. Both gave four out of five stars or higher to the facility for its cleanliness. One alum indicated that they still needed help after leaving the facility. The single alum polled about affordability gave four out of five stars, as well as three out of five stars for family participation and staff availability.

On Google, two alumni left five out of five star reviews, while one former employee gave only one star and claimed he was owed “back wages from 2016.” [1] On its unofficial Facebook page, the facility has a three out of five star rating from four reviews.[2] Several alumni described this location as “unorganized.” Cynthia wrote how it was “Very cluttered, unorganized, and for a lack of a better term ‘very ghetto.’”

WHAT STAFF SAY

On Indeed, Cornerstone Project has an average rating of 2.3 out of five stars from nine reviews to date.[3] More recent reviews are more likely to be negative, with indications that there has been some downsizing of staff due to “budgetary issues.” Staff wrote about the “high turnover rate among supervisors, directors, managers.” Much of the negative feedback is about the management, not the other staff members.

FINANCING

Cornerstone is one of 358 facilities in Ohio that accept Medicaid. Self-pay is also accepted. The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date on the center's affordability gave it four out of five stars.

CONCLUSION

Cornerstone provides motivation for community members and alumni through its Facebook page. There are daily posts with inspirational messages that can help clients hold onto their sober lifestyle and remind them that there are other people going through it too. There are also plans to offer a methadone program at the other Dayton facility, the Riverside office, though the Centerville office will continue to offer Suboxone only.

[1] GoogleReviews
[2] https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cornerstone-Project-Riverside/1525071514388971
[3] https://www.indeed.com/cmp/Cornerstone-Project/reviews
