ABOUT NEW FOUNDATIONS TRANSITIONAL LIVING

In operation since 2010, New Foundation Transitional Living operates a network of sober, supportive housing facilities for adults recovering from chemical dependency. According to the facility's website, New Foundations is one of the largest transitional living organizations in the greater Cincinnati, Ohio area. As a agency designed to serve individuals already in recovery, medical detoxification services are not available on-site. This location is one of Ohio's 86 (21 percent) residential facilities for individuals overcoming addiction.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

New Foundations Transitional Living's sober living facilities are utilized to help bridge the gap between residential treatment and/or medical detoxification and independent living within the the community. The sober living homes are also available to those recently released from jail or prison. Before admission into one of the transitional homes, applicants undergo an initial interview to ensure the the program is appropriate. Applicants must also pass an initial drug test.

Primarily, New Foundations Transitional Living's facilities provide peer support, structured living, and a recovery-oriented environment conducive to sustaining sobriety, but clients must also actively engage in their recovery to maintain residency. According to the facility's website, New Foundations is a spiritually based program, and the agency adheres to the 12-step model of recovery. While living in a facility, clients must attend at least four 12-step meetings per week, as well as obtain a 12-step sponsor and continually "work the steps." In addition, residents are required to attend weekly in-house meetings.

If not attending school, residents must obtain employment while residing in the facility. To ensures residents successfully adjust to community re-entry, New Foundations Transitional Living suggests residents hit certain milestones before discharge. The agency considers a resident prepared for independent living after a90 days of maintained, continuous sobriety with gainful employment that provides adequate income to be financially self-sufficient.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to the facility's website, New Foundations Transitional Living employs an "experienced and capable management team." The house managers may be individuals experienced in the process of recovery. In the state of Ohio, all facilities have continuing education requirements for staff.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Although information is scarce concerning the living arrangements of the facilities, the agency's website describes the sober living homes as" fully equipped with all of the necessities needed for comfortable daily living." Transitional homes offer high-speed internet, WiFi access points, and house computers for resident use. Each home also provides on-site laundry facilities.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The sole loved one polled by Rehabs.com, J.E., had mixed opinions concerning the facility. Out of five stars, J.E. offered the low ratings of just two stars for the staff's level of experience and training. However, this loved one offered a four-star rating for the ease of communication with the client and reported they'd definitely recommend the facility to others (five stars).
