The facility also specializes in treating individuals with sexual orientation-related concerns, making the facility among the <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/NC17.pdf" target="_blank">21.4 percent of N.C. facilities</a> to provide specialized programming for the <strong>LGBT community</strong>.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Upon intake, clients may undergo an initial substance abuse assessment and/or psychological screening to identify the factors that are contributing to behavioral and mental health concerns. To help clients overcome their difficulties, Asheville Counseling Center facilitates <strong>individual, group, couples, and family counseling sessions</strong>.</p> <p>Asheville Counseling Center utilizes a number of modalities. In particular, the facility engages clients in <strong>motivational interviewing (MI)</strong> to help them set obtainable goals, as well as <strong>cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)</strong> to identify the links between irrational thinking patterns and maladaptive behavior. Through counseling sessions, clients learn how to manage stress, improve impulse control, and implement <strong>coping strategies</strong>.</p> <p><strong>Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)</strong> is another form of treatment used. It employs simple finger tapping on certain points on the body, typically near the face and chest, to reduce distress.</p> <p>Along with services focused on chemical dependency, the facility specializes in treating anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), bipolar disorder, and <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring difficulties</a>. In addition, <strong>family and couple counseling sessions</strong> focus on codependency, relationship issues, parenting, domestic abuse, and family conflict.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>Treatment services at Asheville Counseling Center are overseen by a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with more than 30 years of experience in substance abuse and mental health counseling. </p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>Th one alum polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing submitted mainly positive feedback about Asheville Counseling Center. This former client awarding five stars to a range of survey metrics, including administrative/discharge policies, likelihood to recommend, staff experience and training, treatment of co-occurring disorders, and worth the cost. </p> <p>However, the alum gave one out of five stars for counseling options and the amount of family participation in treatment.. Nonetheless, the reviewer cited “excellent counselors” as a strength of the program and added: “It helped me.” </p> <p>On its Facebook page, which the organization can manage, Asheville Counseling Center received one review to date. <small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> This individual awarded the facility perfect five stars and did not post any commentary. </p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>According to the facility's website, Asheville Counseling Center accepts a range of private insurance plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, TriCare, United Healthcare, and ValueOptions.
