ABOUT PREFERRED FAMILY HEALTHCARE

Founded in 1979, Preferred Family Healthcare (PFH) is a community-based healthcare organization that operates 145 facilities in Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. The Quincy, Ill. location is one of 56 rehabs in the network that offers substance abuse services.

Formerly known as Great River Recovery Resources before merging with PFH in 2014, the Quincy facility provides intensive outpatient programs (IOP) and general outpatient care programs, as well as being one of the just 89 (14.1 percent) centers in the state with residential treatment. Services are for both adults and adolescents, making it one of the 168 (26.5 percent) treatment centers in Illinois with a programming track for this age group. There is also a specialized program for traffic offenders that assists with resolving legal issues in conjunction with addiction treatments.

Detox is not available on-site at the Quincy location although it is available through locations in other states. Aftercare programming is also available for clients that complete the treatment programs.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The treatment process at Preferred Family Healthcare begins with an admissions assessment to help clients determine which program is most appropriate for their needs. The treatment programs use a combination of therapy, sober living, 12-steps programming, and educational coursework to treat clients in a comprehensive approach to sobriety.

In the residential program, clients participate in individual and group therapy, as well as alcohol and drug education courses. The individual counseling sessions address specific behavioral issues while group sessions address common concerns such as stress management and the triggers of substance abuse behavior.

Clients also focus on physical rehabilitation using recreational therapy. Clients are introduced to 12-steps programming, as well as educational courses on sober living skills and relapse prevention. On top of that, clients participate in family counseling to rebuild their family connections and establish a support network outside of the facility.

Aftercare services consist of referrals to community-based support groups, as well as continued support in the form of counseling. The PFH website notes that it is developing alumni groups to further assist in relapse prevention.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Clients are assigned to counselors who provide individual and group therapy services, as well as guidance through the program. Other staff members include community support specialists, who teach life skills, coordinate aftercare, and provide referrals to community resources. PFH also employs psychologists, psychiatrists, and nurses, according to its website, though it is unclear if they are stationed at the Quincy location.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

There currently is no information provided on the facility’s website regarding its living arrangements and related offerings.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The single alum review submitted to Rehabs.com to date was very positive.

Alum H.K. gave four out of five stars for holistic offerings, and connectivity/visitor policies.
