Clients participate in daily therapeutic activities, including one-on-one counseling and family therapy at least once per week, group therapy five days per week, health education, life skills workshops, and 12-step meetings.

Participation in 12-Step is an important part of treatment plans. Clients participate in on-site 12-Step meetings and are encouraged to continue their participation in community-based groups after completing their primary treatment process.

Grove Academy, which is the residential treatment program, accepts clients ages 13 to 17 with a primary diagnosis of chemical dependence. The length of stay is typically three to six months, and treatment is designed to address the physical, psychological and social needs of adolescents, so that a solid foundation for long-term sobriety can be established. A family program offers multi-family group therapy, as well as individual counseling and addiction education.

School-aged clients also receive schooling each day via an individualized, computer-based learning program. While in treatment, clients participate in academic practices to continue their education. Academics are provided through Florida Virtual School, an online component to the Florida School System. Clients continue to take classes and keep up with their education while receiving the treatment that they need from the facility.

Outpatient options for both teens and adults include a la carte counseling services, as well as intensive outpatient programs (IOP). The IOPs offer weekly group, individual, and family therapy sessions, as well as problem-solving and anger management workshops. IOP may also address conflict resolution, parenting skills, goal setting, self-esteem building, skill development, and recovery/relapse prevention skills. There’s also a four-hour tobacco education course and a multi-phase adolescent drug court program.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The Grove Counseling Center’s treatment team includes master’s level therapists, psychiatrists, and nurses.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

The Grove Academy residential program offers 35 beds, which places it in the segment of smaller facilities in the country. During treatment, clients are enrolled in Florida Virtual School. Clients also have many of their needs taken care of by facility staff to allow them to focus on treatment.

REVIEWS

Rehabs.com has not yet received any reviews from this facility’s alumni, affiliated friends or family members, or staff.” However, secondary sources revealed mixed reviews. Mallorie wrote how “the patient can “ loose weeks” witch means you stay longer than the 3 month period and you can loose weeks over petty things.” An anonymous reviewer agreed: “Some of the staff are great but some will keep you there. One slip up can cause you week.”

On the facility’s Glassdoor page, there is an average rating of 3.3 out of five stars based on seven total reviews.[2] Employee reviews were mostly positive. Staff members describe a mostly positive working environment, despite “High turn over,” “awful” benefits, and that “raises aren’t offered often unless you are pro-active about it.”

On Indeed, feedback echoes what is found on Glassdoor, with 3.4 out of five stars from nine reviews to date.[3] Some of the reviews from current and employees indicate a chaotic working environment. A current counselor wrote: “You are hired for one job but then told to do something totally different. They even change your agreed upon hours and location with notice.”

FINANCING

The Grove accepts 27 private health insurers and is among the 62% of U.S. facilities that accepts Medicaid.

CONCLUSION

In 2017, the process was underway for The Grove and IMPOWER to merge into a single company. This would allow both organizations to offer a wider range of related services to a much broader audience. The merger was expected to be completed in June of 2018.

[1] GoogleReviews
[2] https://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/The-Grove-Counseling-Center-Reviews-E777476.htm
[3] https://www.indeed.com/cmp/The-Grove-Counseling-Center/reviews
