ABOUT THE GROVE COUNSELING CENTER INC - PREVENTION CAMPUS

Located in the northern suburbs of Orlando, the Grove Counseling Center is an addiction and behavioral health treatment network for adults and adolescents. At its main campus in Longwood, The Grove provides residential care for adolescents ages 13 to 17 and outpatient care for both adults and adolescents โ making The Grove one of just 27 percent of facilities in Florida that treats adolescents.

In the Goldsboro neighborhood of Sanford, the Prevention Campus teaches preventative skills to elementary age students, and The Grove also provides in-school preventative services in Seminole County. Detox services are not available on any of The Grove's campuses.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The prevention campus serves more than 60 students at a time, through two programs: Sunshine Grove teaches life skills such as decision-making, goal-setting, and relationship-building to students from kindergarten to fifth grade. Arts in Action uses expressive arts educations to foster teamwork and positive change in the home and community lives of upper elementary students.

Elsewhere, The Grove offers Wraparound Seminole, an at-home treatment program for clients aged five to 21 and their families, designed to avoid these individuals having to be removed from the home. Other services include a prevention program on drugs, violence, and safety, taught at Seminole schools, as well as the ALPHA Model, which provides individual and group counseling for students at Seminole County public elementary schools who are struggling with difficulties such as low self-esteem, anger, grief, and peer pressure. ALPHA aims to break the cycle of unhealthy habits and decisions, and avoid students developing more severe behavioral problems.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The Grove employs several master's-level counselors. The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date gave The Grove four out of five stars for its staff's level of training and experience.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The sole alum polled by Rehabs.com to date gave mostly negative feedback. "The staff seemed uncaring," they wrote anonymously, giving the center just one out of five stars for its holistic offerings, family participation, counseling options, and ability to treat co-occurring disorders. They did, however, give the center three stars for its admin/discharge practices and its treatment effectiveness.

WHAT STAFF SAY

The Grove Counseling Center as a whole has mixed reviews from staff, with an average rating of 3.3 stars based on seven reviews left on Glassdoor to date, plus a one-star rating for the Sanford location in particular, left on Indeed.[1] [2]

The positive reviewers praised the work environment and excellent staff, with one employee writing on Glassdoor: "An amazing and encouraging place to work. The best co-workers I've ever had." However, several reviewers complained of poor management, sometimes adding that this resulted in poor treatment for clients. "Upper Management did not appear to conduct business affairs effectively... Provide adequate support to your employees," one former employee wrote in a representative comment on Glassdoor.

FINANCING

The Grove is in-network with 27 private insurance providers, all listed on the organization's website. The center's also one of just 36 percent of Florida facilities that accepts Medicaid (though Medicaid can only be used for outpatient services).
