<p><strong>ABOUT SALUSCARE</strong></p> <p>SalusCare is amongst the <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/FL16.pdf" target="_blank">314 (43.9%) nonprofit</a> mental health and substance abuse treatment agencies headquartered in Florida. The organization operates seven locations throughout Southwest Florida. These centers offer <strong>medical detox, residential and outpatient treatment, and drug court services</strong> for adults struggling with addiction and mental health disorders, as well as <strong>residential and outpatient <a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/is-my-child-just-experimenting/" target="_blank">treatment for youth</a>,</strong> a feature of only <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/FL16.pdf" target="_blank">21.4% of facilities in the state</a></p> <p>Priority admission for substance abuse treatment is given to pregnant women, women with children, and intravenous drug users. </p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Detox is conducted in a standalone facility in Fort Myers and generally lasts three to 10 days.</p> <p>All of SalusCare’s residential programs are equipped to treat those struggling with addiction or <strong><a href="(http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring mental health disorders</a>)</strong>. Adult residential care begins at a co-ed short-term transitional living center in Fort Myers. According to SalusCare’s website, <strong>treatment is individualized and emphasizes family and other relationships</strong> while utilizing education and therapy.</p> <p>After short-term care, clients may graduate to <strong>gender-separate transitional living facilities,</strong> where they work or study while living in a supported environment. Here, clients receive life skills training, including vocational and educational training. <strong>Most clients remain in transitional living for four to six months.</strong></p> <p>Outpatient options for adults struggling with addiction consist of <strong>a partial hospitalization program (PHP) at various intensities,</strong> with up to 13+ hours a day of care. General outpatient group and individual therapy are also offered.</p> <p>In Florida, where <a href="https://www.samhsa.gov/data/sites/default/files/NSDUHsaePercents2016/NSDUHsaePercents2016.pdf" target="_blank">4.3% of adolescents ages 12 to 17 experienced substance use disorder in 2016</a>, this facility offers unique programming for youth. <strong>Residential treatment and PHP</strong> takes place for adolescents ages 13-17 takes place at the Vince Smith Campus in the city and generally lasts three to four months. The program includes <strong>weekly parent groups</strong>, family, individual, and group counseling, recreational activities, and continuing care.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>According to the facility’s website, the medical staff includes <strong>physicians, psychiatrists</strong>, advanced registered nurse practitioners, and a physician assistant. Reviewers cited different weaknesses, including a lack of individual counseling and facilities that need updating.</p> <p>In addition, the two loved ones to leave reviews on Google both gave only one out of five stars.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> Both having had daughters attend the facility, one felt “Salus Care really doesn't care at all,” and the other criticized the facility for not prescribing "medications for conditions like bipolar." </p> <p><strong>WHAT STAFF SAY</strong></p> <p>The single staffer polled by Rehabs.com to date gave mixed feedback, awarding the facility five stars for the staff’s experience and credentials, but only two stars for the quality of leadership. “There is one medical professional on our staff,” the staffer wrote.</p> <p>13 current and former employees rated SalusCare an average of 2.9 out of five stars on Indeed.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-2"><sup>[2]</sup></a></small> Staffers generally seemed to enjoy their workplace and there were no trends in complaints at the time of this writing. “People are friendly and polite and are always ready to help each other out when needed,” one wrote.</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>According to the facility’s website, SalusCare accepts Medicare, Medicaid, and some major health insurance providers.
