ABOUT PROJECT NINETY, INC.

Established in 1972, Project Ninety, Inc. (P90) has been serving individuals and families in the San Francisco Bay Area for more than 40 years. A division of the community-based nonprofit Caminar since 2018, the organization provides residential and outpatient treatment to adult men struggling with substance use disorder. It's one of 686 substance abuse treatment facilities in California (52 percent of all facilities in the state) to provide treatment specifically tailored to men.

P90 also has a program for clients with co-occurring disorders, a specialty offered by a little more than half (55 percent) of all treatment facilities in the state.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Residential treatment at P90 is long-term, and the 90-day program takes place over four distinct phases. The first month is spent developing self-awareness, the second dedicated to planning, and the final month is where plan is put into action. P90 is one of 440 treatment facilities in California (just 34 percent of all facilities in the state) to offer a residential program that lasts longer than 30 days.

Treatment is 12-step based, and men are required to attend Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and/or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings on a daily basis. In addition, they'll have opportunity for sober interaction at sporting events, dances, and other excursions.

P90 also offers a special treatment track for working professionals. Established in 1997, the Working Program follows a similar phase-like model as the residential program, but allows clients to participate in programming on weeknights and over weekends to accommodate job schedules.

For those who require treatment without the structure of a residential setting, an outpatient program provides two group counseling sessions and an individual meeting with a counselor per week.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to the organization's website, the treatment team includes certified addictions counselors and certified alcohol and drug counselors.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

With more than 200 beds across its residential facilities, P90 sleeps clients in shared bedrooms. The two alumni polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave P90 four and five out off five stars respectively for its facilities' cleanliness and general upkeep.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The two former clients surveyed by Rehabs.com to date gave P90 mostly positive feedback. The first, an anonymous female between the ages of 26 and 39, applauded the facility for its caring staff and personalized treatment planning. She also awarded the rehab four or five out of five stars for its treatment of co-occurring disorders, its staff's level of training and experience, and its administrative and discharge procedures. "My experience was mostly positive and has kept me clean for 4 years so far," she wrote. The alum did note that she did not like the food, and also reported that she did not find the facility's focus on AA and religion to be helpful.

The second alum, who also participated anonymously, gave P90 four out of five stars for its exercise and leisure offerings, its family participation, and its 12-step programming. While the reviewer noted that the rehab's transitional living program was a weakness, they also wrote: "Was fairly good, I was fortunate and stayed clean."

On Google[1], P90 earned an average rating of 3.2 out of five stars based on 10 reviews. Opinions were split down the middle -- of the six alumni who left comments, three offered positive feedback, including Carlos who credited the facility with saving his life. The other three provided negative feedback, such as Finn who described the rehab as "a get-out-of-jail-free card for criminals, not a program for people that legitimately wanted to get clean."

FINANCING

According to P90's website, residential treatment costs $18,000 for the standard 90-day program and $21,000 for the specialized co-occurring disorder treatment program. No information is currently available concerning insurance policies or financial assistance.

[1] GoogleReviews
