Editorial Review

ABOUT LATTER DAY SAINTS (LDS) - ADDICTION RECOVERY PROGRAM

The Latter Day Saints (LDS) Addiction Recovery Program consists of addiction recovery support groups sponsored by LDS Family Services. The program adapts the 12-step principles of Alcoholics Anonymous to fit within the framework of the doctrines and beliefs of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Detox is not available through this program.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The treatment process at the LDS Addiction Recovery Program focuses on a 12-step program influenced by the LDS doctrine. The 12-Steps fellowship is used in 59.2% of Arizona’s treatment facilities. It provides a short-term structured program as well as a continuing care method for clients.

During treatment clients complete step-work from the 12-Steps while studying religious teachings from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Clients participate in activities including Bible study and daily practices in an attempt to build a stronger spiritual and physical relationship within the Church. It also serves as a method for constructing a sober lifestyle outside of treatment.

The treatment process begins with attending LDS recovery meetings. Meetings are held in locations across the country and all of the meetings follow the same structures and principles. That way, clients can go to any meeting for similar results.

LDS Addiction Recovery Programs also include support services for the families of clients. Family services, including counseling, are offered in 84.5% of treatment facilities in the state. It provides educational courses for family members as well to help them learn coping skills and ways of helping clients through their recovery.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The LDS Addiction Recovery Program relies on clergy and volunteers to manage treatment activities including scheduling meetings. Church leaders may attend meetings and are encouraged to support and guide members seeking recovery, as well as refer them to qualified licensed counselors and/or LDS Family Services if necessary.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The one loved one surveyed by Rehabs.com to date gave the LDS Addiction Recovery Program a positive review, awarding it five out of five stars for its affordability, facility cleanliness, its family participation, and its counseling options. When asked, on a scale from one to five, if they would recommend the program, the reviewer gave a rating of five.

FINANCING

The LDS Addiction Recovery Program is one of the two Arizona facilities that do not charge for services. All of the services are provided through the Church, donations, and volunteer work.
