Editorial Review

ABOUT LIBERTAS TREATMENT CENTER

Located in Green Bay, Wis., Libertas Treatment Center offers substance abuse treatment services to adults and adolescents.
The facility offers a residential treatment program for adolescents, as well as an outpatient programs and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) for both adults and adolescents. It is one of the 54 programs in the state that offers specialized programming for adolescents. Medical detox services are not available on-site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

First, new clients undergo an assessment that takes approximately two hours to determine which type of treatment is most appropriate. This assessment includes an interview and a drug screening. For the adolescent programs, parents are also interviewed.

Treatment is based on the 12-steps model of recovery, which is used in nearly 70 percent of Wisconsin’s treatment facilities. Programming also consists of individual and group therapy, as well as education programs. Clients also undergo weekly drug screens. Family therapy sessions are also incorporated into programming.

The adult intensive outpatient program (IOP) consists of group therapy sessions that are three hours a session, three sessions a week, with either morning or evening sessions. There are five to 10 participants per session. The program lasts seven weeks. A less intensive outpatient program is also available for adults.

For adolescents, three programs are available: inpatient residential, outpatient, and intensive outpatient. For the outpatient programs, treatment takes place two hours a day, four days a week after school. This treatment typically lasts four to six weeks.

The adolescent residential program lasts two to three weeks making it one of Wisconsin’s 24 non-hospital, short-term programs. In addition to counseling and educational classes, the program includes activities therapy and, during the school year, academic instruction.

Once treatment is over, the aftercare program lasts up to 16 weeks. While less intensive, the aftercare program helps clients and their families prepare for lifelong sobriety.

Family participation is mandatory for the adolescent programs. For the aftercare program, family members are required to participate in a monthly family component. For the inpatient program, parents must participate in a two-day Family Program scheduled near the end of treatment. For the outpatient program, parents participate in special weekly sessions.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Libertas Treatment Center is one of the 57 facilities in the state that is accredited by the Joint Commission and the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
