ABOUT HUNTINGTON COMPREHENSIVE TREATMENT CENTER

One of seven facilities operated by West Virginia Comprehensive Treatment Centers, Huntington Comprehensive Treatment Center, situated in downtown Huntington, offers medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for adult men and women struggling with opioid addiction. According to a 2016 SAHMSA survey, the center is one of 40 facilities in W. Va. to utilize Suboxone.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Before beginning treatment, clients may undergo an initial substance abuse assessment and medical examination to determine an individualized treatment program and ensure MAT is an appropriate treatment approach.

To treat its clients, Huntington Comprehensive Treatment Center combines counselor-led individual and group therapy sessions with its MAT regimens. Depending on their needs, clients who are chemically dependent on morphine, prescription painkillers, or heroin may receive Suboxone, methadone, Subutex, or Vivitrol. These evidence-based medications are effective in alleviating the discomfort of opioid withdrawal and helping to curb cravings. Clients work with physicians to determine a proper dosage and medication.

While the MAT regimens address the physical consequences of opioid addiction, the center's individual and group counseling sessions are designed to address any underlying factors that may contribute to addictive behavior. The length of an MAT regimen varies, determined by each client's needs and progress in treatment. Clients may participate in MAT for short-term or long-term.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Huntington Comprehensive Treatment Center employs a team of physicians experienced in addiction medicine, nurses, and counselors who work together to monitor clients and their medications.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Although Rehabs.com has not yet received any reviews from this facility’s alumni, several of the 16 individuals who reviewed the clinic on Google reviews reported having life-changing experiences.[1] Collectively, the 16 individuals awarded the facility an average rating of 4.5 out of five stars. In particular, alumni tended to praise the facility's staff. "The staff is wonderful. The nurses are top notch. The counselors are great. It literally saved my life,” alum Andrew wrote in a representative five-star Google review.

Yet on Yellowpages.com, alum Tina shared another story, offering the facility a one out of five-star rating. "To some it's about how demeaning they can make you feel,”[2] Tina wrote, regarding the facility's staff.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The sole loved one polled by Rehabs.com to date was overall disappointed with the facility. Although they gave mostly three- and four-star ratings (out of five) for a variety of metrics, including the level of family participation, the staff’s training and experience, their availability, and professionalism, the reviewer complained that staff didn’t treat their loved one “as a person.”

FINANCING

According to the facility's website, clients may utilize their insurance for treatment, though intake fees are paid by cash, money order, or credit card.

[1] https://goo.gl/4yU6C2
[2] https://www.yellowpages.com/huntington-wv/mip/huntington-comprehensive-treatment-center-456195591
