<p><strong>ABOUT FRIENDS OF GUEST HOUSE - RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM</strong></p> <p>Located in Alexandria, Va., Friends of Guest House - Residential Program is one of the only <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/VA16.pdf" target="_blank">36 (15.7 percent)</a> <strong>residential treatment facilities</strong> to treat substance abuse in the state. The Friends of Guest House's Residential Program offers programming <strong>exclusively for adult women</strong>. Medically supervised detox is not available on-site.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Friends of Guest House's treatment starts with an intake evaluation with an experienced case manager who creates an <strong>individualized recovery plan</strong> for each client, based on individual needs. Residential treatment lasts <strong>90 days</strong>.</p> <p>Treatment includes <strong>individual and group counseling</strong>, life skills training, vocational training, financial education, nutrition and health cases. For clients without a high school diploma, <strong>GED tutoring and mentoring</strong> are available. </p> <p>During and after the residential program, clients are referred to other community-based resources that might benefit them. This includes access to health care, legal assistance, and other programs.</p> <p>Upon completion of the residential program, clients transition to the <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/extended-recovery-programs/" target="_blank">aftercare program</a>, which lasts, on average, <strong>between six and nine months</strong>. Aftercare includes social activities, ongoing case management, educational workshops, and accountability training.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>The treatment team includes case managers, substance abuse counselors, and other behavioral health professionals. In the state of Virginia, <a href="https://www.samhsa.gov/data/sites/default/files/report_3059/ShortReport-3059.pdf" target="_blank">97.3 percent</a> of all substance abuse treatment facilities have continuing education requirements for staff. The sole alum polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave a four out of five-star rating for the staff's level of experience and training.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>Friends of Guest House's Residential Program can accommodate up to <strong>26 women</strong> at a time in a two-story, homelike facility. Clients are expected to complete assigned chores and meet regularly with a mentor. The single alum polled to date awarded a five-star rating for the facility's cleanliness and upkeep.</p> <p><strong>REVIEWS</strong></p> <p>At the time of this writing, the single alum to submit a review to Rehabs.com provided mostly positive feedback. This former client gave the facility five out of five stars for its holistic offerings, connectivity/visitor policy, counseling options, and overall treatment effectiveness. </p> <p>The only criticism that this individual gave was "Not enough counseling," providing a singular low, two-star rating for the center's effectiveness in treating co-occurring mental health disorders. Still, this alum felt that "Support" was a facility strength, and concluded: "It changed my life for the better.
