<p><strong>ABOUT ETHOS FOUNDATION</strong></p> <p>Founded in 1978 and located in central Alexandria, Va., The Ethos Foundation is a non-profit that provides <strong>outpatient treatment at varying intensities</strong> for children, adolescents, adults, and families struggling with mental illness, substance use disorder, and various other addictive disorders. It's one of <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/dasis2/nssats/n2016_st_profiles.pdf" target="_blank">45 private non-profit rehabs</a> in the State of Virginia, as well as one of the state's 177 outpatient programs. <strong>Medical detox is not available on-site</strong>.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Ethos' most intensive level of care available is an <strong>intensive outpatient program (IOP).</strong> Outside of the IOP, there are relapse prevention groups, psychoeducational groups, and DWI education groups, all for individuals struggling with addiction. </p> <p>According to the facility's website, the program <strong>uses evidence-based methods.</strong> Clients participate in individual, couples', family, and group settings, as well as attend educational and coping skills classes.</p> <p>In addition to addiction, the center can provide support with general mental and family health issues, gender identity, <strong>trauma and <a href="http://www.rehabs.com/pro-talk-articles/sexual-trauma-and-addiction-understanding-child-sexual-abuse-and-drug-use/" target="_blank">sexual abuse</a>,</strong> anger management, bereavement, and, for younger clients, truancy and preventing violence and gang activity.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>Ethos' treatment team includes licensed therapists, social workers, and addiction counselors. The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the center four out five stars for its staff's level of training and experience.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>The single alum surveyed by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave lukewarm feedback. "Friendly but not so organized," they wrote anonymously, giving the facility four stars for its ability to treat <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring disorders</a> and three stars for its treatment effectiveness, but just two stars for its counseling options and administration and discharge practices.</p> <p>Secondary sites yield just one review at present, and it's negative: "If quack science is what you want...well..," J.B. wrote in a two-star review on Google.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small></p> <p><strong>WHAT STAFF SAY</strong></p> <p>The two employees who've reviewed Ethos Foundation to date gave mixed feedback, with a three-star rating and a five-star rating on Indeed.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-2"><sup>[2]</sup></a></small> The lukewarm reviewer described the program itself as "awesome," but noted some problems with management.
