<p><strong>ABOUT SOBA RECOVERY CENTER</strong></p> <p>SOBA started as a luxury rehab facility <a href="http://www.rehabs.com/listings/soba-recovery-center-328602086/" target="_blank">in Malibu, California</a>, and now offers a second program from a ranch set on 10 acres of land, 20 miles west of San Antonio in south central Texas. The program offers <strong>residential treatment</strong> in a "social model recovery community" that functions more as a transitional home toward the later stages of treatment. </p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>The length of stay varies according to the client's needs, but SOBA recommends at least a <a href="https://www.recovery.org/topics/choosing-a-90-day-addiction-recovery-program/" target="_blank">90-day stay</a>. The rehab is one of 94 non-hospital substance abuse treatment facilities in Texas (just <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/TX17.pdf" target="_blank">22 percent</a> of all non-hospital facilities in the state) to offer long-term residential treatment that lasts longer than 30 days.</p> <p>Treatment includes <strong>evidence-based therapies</strong> such as eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and brief strategic family therapy (BSFT). There are also specialized groups for clients with <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring disorders</a>, as well as LGBT clients (the latter of which is offered in only <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/TX17.pdf" target="_blank">20 percent</a> of Texas treatment facilities).</p> <p>Clients are encouraged to participate in <a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/did-aa-save-my-life/" target="_blank">12-step</a> programs, and are required to do so as part of their <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/extended-recovery-programs/" target="_blank">continuing care</a> after graduation. During the final stages of the program, clients are expected to either <a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/how-addiction-can-interfere-with-your-job-performance/" target="_blank">return to their jobs</a> or secure one, with the assistance of SOBA staff. In 2017, <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/TX17.pdf" target="_blank">38 percent</a> of treatment facilities in Texas provided its clients with employment counseling or training.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>SOBA Texas employs <strong>two psychiatrists,</strong> a nurse, and an acupuncture technician, as well as <strong>chemical dependency counselors</strong>. The one individual polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the facility five out of five stars for its staff's level of training and experience.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>SOBA Texas operates out of a <strong>family-style home</strong> complete with an outdoor pool, an outdoor grill, and a basketball court. To date, the one individual surveyed by Rehabs.com gave the facility five out of five stars for its cleanliness, its exercise and leisure activities, and its holistic offerings.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>While Rehabs.com has not yet received any reviews from this facility’s alumni, SOBA Texas fared well on secondary sites, where it earned average ratings of <strong>3.7 out of five stars</strong> based on 11 Google reviews<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> and <strong>four out of five stars</strong> based on eight Yelp reviews<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-2"><sup>[2]</sup></a></small> (five of which were unrecommended).
