ABOUT CENIKOR FOUNDATION — FORT WORTH, TX

Founded in 1967, Cenikor Foundation is a private, nonprofit behavioral health organization that offers a full continuum of care to adults and adolescents through its eleven facilities in Texas and Louisiana.

The Fort Worth facility, located in an industrial area four miles south of central Fort Worth, offers long-term residential treatment for adults struggling with substance abuse.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The long-term residential program involves education, clinical counseling, and the therapeutic community (TC) model, in a program designed to change residents’ attitudes, behaviors, and perceptions over the long term. Heavy emphasis is placed on vocational training and employment through Cenikor’s robust Workforce Development program, which offers training in a range of fields. Clients also learn how to manage their own money, and upon graduation the facility will help them to secure housing and employment. The center also emphasizes building social skills: making new friends and forming new, healthy relationships with family members.

Throughout treatment, clients work with staff on a discharge plan that includes involving family and other loved ones in treatment and putting together a list of resources in the client’s neighborhood.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its treatment staff; however, a loved one polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the center two out of five stars for its level of staff support, while an employee polled by Rehabs.com gave the center five stars for the experience levels of both its mental health and its addiction staff.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its living arrangements and related offerings; however, an individual polled by Rehabs.com to date on the center’s accommodations, meals, and cleanliness gave it one out of five stars in each category.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Rehabs.com has not yet received any reviews directly from alumni of this facility, but secondary review sites yielded mostly positive feedback, with average ratings (all out of five stars) of 4.8 stars based on six reviews on Google and 2.5 stars[1] based on four reviews on HealthGrove,[2] plus a single one-star rating on CiteHealth.[3] Both of the negative reviewers complained of a lack of proper care and attention, one writing anonymously on HealthGrove: “Their facilities are like living in a dirty homeless shelter. Bed bugs, head lice and rats! They mistreat the residents who are the majority have been forced to go there from the courts.”

However, the positive reviewers tended to comment on the program’s efficacy: “Cenikor gave me all the tools necessary to become a better person. First I as able to address my substance abuse and then figure out what was causing my problems. They helped get me a job, taught me how to save money and offered me the foundation to start my life again on the right path,” an anonymous reviewer wrote in the most illustrative of the reviews, left on CiteHealth.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The single loved one polled by Rehabs.com to date gave negative feedback. “It was like a vacation hot spot until you got there! bad living conditions, bad food, bad supervisors,” the anonymous reviewer wrote, giving the facility one or two stars in all of the evaluated treatment metrics, including the overall quality of its addiction and mental health treatment and its staff support.

WHAT STAFF SAY

The single staffer polled by Rehabs.com to date would recommend this program. “Very successful program. Very good program for a client who has found themselves in legal troubles as a result of their disease,” they wrote, giving the facility five stars in all of the evaluated treatment metrics, including its honesty, its willingness to put clients’ interests first, and the overall quality of its care.

Secondary employment review sites yielded mixed-to-positive feedback of Cenikor as a whole (as opposed to this facility in particular), with average ratings of 3.4 stars based on 46 reviews on Indeed.com.[4] There was little in the reviews that might illuminate the quality of care, other than a repeated sense that staff were dedicated to and inspired by their work. “Working with clients and helping they work on tools to maintain sobriety. I learned that helping others is the most rewarding thing I have ever done,” one anonymous reviewer wrote in a review on Indeed.com.

FINANCING

Cenikor accepts Medicaid, private insurance, and self-pay. The organization has preferred provider agreements with insurers including but not limited to Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and Humana.

[1] https://goo.gl/hkc26M
[2] http://treatment-facilities.healthgrove.com/l/10351/Cenikor-Foundation
[3] http://citehealth.com/rehab-centers/texas/cities/ft-worth/cenikor-foundation-inc#reviews
[4] https://www.indeed.com/cmp/Cenikor-Foundation/reviews
