ABOUT GATEWAY REHAB β MONROEVILLE

One of 18 facilities operated by the Gateway Rehab network of treatment centers, Gateway Rehab Monroeville, located in a suburb of Pittsburgh, provides outpatient treatment for adults and adolescents struggling with substance abuse. The Monroeville facility offers an adolescent and young adult program (ages 13 to 25), a program for adults over 40, and gender-specific programs. The Monroeville location does not facilitate on-site detoxification.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

To help clinicians form an individualized program and determine if a specialized program may be beneficial, clients participate in an initial substance abuse assessment before beginning treatment. Gateway Rehab Monroeville combines 12-step involvement with evidence-based treatment methods, namely cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), to address underlying issues of addiction, modify thinking and behavior patterns, and promote long-term recovery.

Throughout treatment, clients participate in Twelve-Step Facilitation (TSF), which is a manual-guided treatment model outlined by 12-step groups. Clients learn to use 12-step tools for recovery and connect with others in 12-step fellowship. Along with 12-Step, clients undergo individual counseling sessions, attend specialized process groups, and attend training sessions on relapse prevention and coping skills.

If necessary, Gateway Rehab Monroeville also offers medication-assisted therapy (Suboxone, Vivitrol, etc.) for individuals. To accommodate varying client schedules, outpatient sessions are offered in both the morning and evening, five days a week. Upon discharge, Gateway Rehab invites clients to remain active in the alumni association, and the treatment network has designed its own recovery mobile app, which is available to alumni to assist in long-term sobriety.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The treatment team consists of master's level therapists, life skills coaches, behavioral technicians, and other administrative staff members. Depending on a client's needs, a consulting nurse and psychiatrist are available.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The three alumni polled by Rehabs.com offered mostly positive opinions of overall treatment effectiveness, but did note where the program could use improvement.

For example, one alum provided high ratings for the staff's level of training and experience and the effectiveness of treatment, but reported a lack of family involvement and limited counseling options. In addition, the three alumni gave the facility an average two out of five stars for its holistic offerings.

On Google, the facility received 3.3 out of five stars from three reviews to date. [1] However, one of the reviews is from a staff member about an address change. Another provides no feedback. The third review is extremely negative and discussed poor treatment by staff members.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

More than 20 loved ones provided feedback to Rehabs.com for Gateway Rehab - Monroeville. The feedback from loved ones was generally positive, but some did comment on its large size, referring to the program as βbusyβ and reporting long wait times for admission.

Loved ones seemed to appreciate the treatment options. A loved one commented to Rehabs.com: βOffers a variety of treatments and hospitality,β but continued to say: βIt's a little bit crowded.β Another anonymous loved one said: βThe treatment my loved one recieved seemed effective,β though the respondent could not confirm if the client was still sober.

The facility received an average of four out of five stars or higher for the level of staff experience, family participation, and cleanliness.
