ABOUT TREATMENT WORKS, INC.: ABSOLUTE HOUSE

On a tree-lined street near the Calvary Cemetery, five miles southeast of central Cleveland, nonprofit Treatment Works offers Absolute House, a residential treatment center and sober-living home for men.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Prospective clients may drop in at the facility between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on weekdays to initiate the admissions process.

Treatment at Absolute House is built around 12-step tenets, but also prioritizes the individuality of its residents, pledging to allow each of them to incorporate the steps into their lives in whichever way works for them. The program is offered in two phases; clients must graduate from the first phase in order to proceed to the second.

Phase One lasts two months and involves daily 12-step meetings, Big Book study, group therapy, random alcohol and drug screening, and sessions on anger management, parenting, HIV and STD awareness, and relapse prevention.

Phase Two lasts an extra six months, during which residents continue to participate in individual and group counseling and daily 12-step meetings, but also leave the facility for work, and also work to actively help newer residents at the facility with their early recovery. At the end of the program, clients participate in a six-week aftercare program.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The program supervisor is a licensed independent chemical dependency counselor, and many staff members at Absolute House have first-hand experience of addiction and recovery. The center also keeps costs down by using a large team of volunteers. The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the facility three out of five stars for its staff's level of training and experience.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Treatment Works aims to provide a home-like environment, including meals and on-site laundry facilities. There's a weight and exercise room located on-site, and residents also have an opportunity to participate in yoga. The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the facility four stars for its meals and nutrition and its exercise/leisure offerings, and three stars for its accommodations and cleanliness. They also cited "bed bugs" as a weakness of the facility.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date would strongly recommend a stay at the Absolute House. "I had an amazing group of guys that helped me want to do more and be successful in recovery," J.D. wrote, declaring the center "by far the best" he had attended and giving it four stars for its treatment effectiveness and family participation and three stars for its holistic offerings, counseling options, and ability to treat co-occurring disorders.

Secondary sites yielded mostly positive feedback at the time of this writing: a 4.5-star average rating based on 34 reviews on Facebook, and two five-star ratings on Google.[1] [2] The reviewers repeatedly spoke of the facility in superlative terms, noting that treatment had saved or changed their lives. "Definitely gave the foundation to start a new life and learn how to live life a better way!!!" J.T.S. wrote in a representative review on Facebook.

FINANCING

During Phase One (the first two months of treatment) the cost of treatment is $500/month. During Phase Two, the cost drops to $350/month. Volunteer work and donations help to keep costs low, but the center does not accept any insurance or government funding. The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the facility five out of five stars for its affordability.

[1] https://www.facebook.com/pg/TreatmentWorks-Inc-Absolute-House-111221075613887/reviews/?ref=page_internal
[2] https://goo.gl/ha5g2N
