<p><strong>ABOUT KEY DECISIONS/POSITIVE CHOICES</strong></p> <p>Located blocks east of downtown Cleveland, Key Decisions/Positive Choices offers <strong>outpatient treatment and inpatient driver re-education programs</strong> for adults and high-risk adolescents who are seeking treatment for addiction to alcohol and/or drugs, as well as any <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring disorder</a>. Detox is not offered on-site.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Key Decisions/Positive Choices uses a holistic approach to treating clients. The facility focuses on providing services that treat adults and adolescents as well as their families. That way, clients leave treatment with a strong support network. In Ohio, only <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/OH17.pdf" target="_blank">28.9 percent of facilities</a> provide services to adolescents, addressing a large group in the community in need of help. </p> <p>The facility uses a combination of <strong>traditional individual and group therapy</strong> methods to treat clients. Family participation is encouraged throughout the treatment process. <strong>Family counseling</strong> is made available on an as-needed basis. An alumni review submitted to Rehabs.com indicated that at least some programming heavily emphasized medication-assisted treatment, in particular <strong>Suboxone.</strong> </p> <p>Aside from counseling sessions, <strong>substance abuse education</strong> to help clients better understand addiction and its contributing factors. Education sessions also focus on relapse prevention and <strong>sober living skills</strong> to prepare clients for care outside of the treatment program. </p> <p>The organization also offers a <strong>72-hour driver intervention program</strong>, placing it among <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/OH17.pdf" target="_blank">44 percent of facilities in the state</a> to provide some form of DUI programming. During the 72-hour period, client <strong>reside on-site for three days</strong> in either shared or private rooms. The program serves as an <strong>alternative to jail time for DUI/DWI offenders</strong>. </p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>Key Decisions/Positive Choices employs a team of <strong>substance abuse counselors,</strong> who partner with other local professionals including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and community support agencies. Both of the individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the facility three out of five stars for its staff's level of training and experience. </p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date would not recommend treatment at Key Decisions/Positive Choices. "The long term use of Suboxone at this facility is not helpful," I.R. wrote, giving the facility four out of five stars for its family participation, three stars for its counseling options, and affordability, and one star for its ability to treat co-occurring disorders. On Google, the facility has one five out of five star review, with no written commentary. <small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small></p> <p><strong>WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY</strong></p> <p>The single loved one polled by Rehabs.com also would not recommend treatment at this facility, adding: "It is a short term fix. It doesn get to the root of the problem," which echoes the alum's sentiment that the program offered little besides medications. The loved one gave Key Decisions/Positive Choices one out of five stars for its holistic offerings, two out of five stars for its available counseling options, and three stars for its level of connectivity, level of staff experience, and facility cleanliness.</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>Key Decisions/Positive Choices <strong>accepts Medicaid</strong> and self-pay. For clients that are underinsured or uninsured, the facility offers a sliding fee scale and services for free under the appropriate circumstances. The two individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the facility a three out of five star rating and a four out of five-star rating for its affordability.</p> <p>The cost of programs at Key Decisions/Positive Choices is listed on its website and updated yearly.
