ABOUT CLEVELAND CLINIC FOR HEALTH AT MARYMOUNT HOSPITAL

Located four miles from downtown Cleveland, Marymount Hospital is an acute-care hospital founded in 1949 by Catholic nuns, and owned by Cleveland Clinic, a nonprofit that operates numerous hospitals and medical facilities. Alongside a range of medical departments, it offers a behavioral health division that provides outpatient services as well as being one of the only 22 (5.4 percent) Ohio hospital inpatient programs for individuals struggling with addiction and mental health disorders. Programs are for all age ranges, including adolescents, which is a feature of just 127 (31.3 percent) Ohio treatment facilities, and seniors, which is a specifically-tailored program at only 40 (9.9 percent) centers in the state.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Each client follows an individualized program, whose duration and components are tailored to meet their needs.

According to the facility’s website, treatment includes inpatient and limited outpatient adult psychiatry services, inpatient consultation services, and an intensive outpatient program (IOP). Programming runs seven days a week and includes education about nutrition and medication, as well as scheduled recreational activities and links to community resources. Pastoral services are provided as needed.

The facility's adolescent programming addresses a wide-range of behavioral health issues for this age group, including dramatic changes in grades, bullying, self-harming activities, isolation, or excessive moodiness. Of all Ohio adolescents ages 12 to 17, 13.98 percent experienced a major depressive episode in the past year, 9.27 percent had serious thoughts of suicide, and 24.18 percent had any mental illness.

While facility’s website does not provide more in-depth details about its behavioral health program and process on its website, one former clients polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the facility two out of five stars for its counseling options. The national median number of clients in substance abuse treatment at a hospital inpatient facility in 2016 was 13 clients.

According to the facility’s brochure, amenities include free Wi-Fi and cable TV. When asked, on a scale from one to five, if they would recommend the facility, the reviewer gave the hospital a rating of two. “It was like being in prison,” they wrote.

The other alum provided feedback that was a bit more positive, giving the hospital ratings of four out of five stars for its cleanliness, its staff support, its counselor’s respect for client treatment preferences, its inclusion of holistic activities, and its integration of treatment with leisure activities. This anonymous reviewer didn't appreciate how the facility "Felt overpriced," but ultimately acknowledged, "This was the only one that was willing to keep me until needs were met, without threats of early discharge."

On the Facebook page for Marymount Hospital as a whole, which the organization can manage, the facility received an average of four out of five stars based on 80 reviews.[1] Similarly on Google, a high rating of 4.3 stars was awarded by 173 users to date, though none of the written comments specifically mention the behavioral health unit.[2]

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The sole loved one polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave the program a mostly positive review, awarding it four and five out of five stars for its treatment effectiveness, its counseling options, its administrative and discharge procedures, and its treatment of co-occurring disorders.
