<p><strong>ABOUT NORTHEAST HUMAN SERVICE CENTER</strong></p> <p>The Northeast Human Service Center (NEHSC) serves residents of North Dakota in Grand Forks, Walsh, Pembina and Nelson counties struggling with substance abuse and <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring mental health disorders.</a> The facility is one of eight regional centers within the North Dakota Department of Human Services. </p> <p>Based out of Grand Forks, NEHSC offers both <strong>day patient and outpatient treatment options,</strong> as well as being one of the only <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/ND16.pdf" target="_blank">19 (31.7 percent)</a> treatment centers in the state with a <strong>residential treatment option.</strong> While detox services are not offered on-site, NEHSC will contact private providers to ensure that clients receive the appropriate medical services.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Northeast Human Service Center offers a range of treatment services beginning with addiction evaluations and care coordination. There are <strong>three levels of primary treatment</strong> services available to individuals of all ages and their families. </p> <p>The <strong>Low Intensity Outpatient Program</strong> provides up to 10 hours per week of programming over a period of one to three months. Clients in the <strong>Day Treatment Program</strong> attend programming five days per week for four to eight weeks. Those who require structured, full-time support to maintain sobriety can enroll in the <strong>Adult Residential Program.</strong> </p> <p><strong>Individual, group, and <a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/the-pain-of-addiction-in-the-family-how-counseling-can-help" target="_blank">family counseling</a></strong> are included in all treatment plan along with educational programming. After completing primary treatment, clients prone to chronic relapse can attend the <strong>Relapse Prevention Program.</strong> Groups meet three times each week for two hours at time. There is also a <strong>specialized jail program</strong> that takes place on a weekly basis at the Grand Fork County Correctional Facility nearby.</p> <p>For <a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/is-my-child-just-experimenting/" target="_blank">adolescents 12 to 17 years old,</a> NEHSC’s <strong>Ruth Meiers Adolescent Treatment Center</strong> is a ten-bed residential facility for clients experiencing serious emotional disturbance. The center uses a holistic approach to treatment emphasizing the importance of <strong>behavioral and cognitive change</strong> especially related to family, community, school, and social settings. </p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>The treatment team includes professionals trained in psychiatry, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing, and case management. In the state of North Dakota, <a href="https://www.samhsa.gov/data/sites/default/files/report_3059/ShortReport-3059.pdf" target="_blank">96.9 percent</a> of all substance abuse treatment centers have higher education requirements for staff. The sole loved one polled by Rehabs.com to date awarded three out of five stars for the facility staff's level of experience and training.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>There is currently no information provided by facility regarding the living arrangements and related offerings of the adult residential program. One individual polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave NEHSC’s accommodations and meals three out of five stars, as well as four-star rating for the facility's cleanliness.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>At the time of this writing, Rehabs.com had not yet received feedback from the former clients of the facility. However, two alumni produced four- and five-star ratings for the facility on Google to date.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> The other former client, J.J., wrote: “Phenomenal place for services and help for mental illness, adding, "Highly recommended."</p> <p><strong>WHAT FRIENDS AND FAMILY SAY</strong></p> <p>At the time of this writing, the single loved one polled by Rehabs.com gave the facility a fairly negative review. J.H. gave the facility just one out of five stars for treatment effectiveness and its ability to treat co-occurring mental health problems. Offering a four-star rating for the amount of family participation, J.H. wrote: "It wasn't a horrible place but staffing and having a psyc doctor on hand would have been more helpful."</p> <p><strong>WHAT STAFF SAY</strong> </p> <p>At the time of this writing, there has been one staff member polled by Rehabs.com who offered a positive review. The staff member gave four- out of five- star rating for the experience of medical staff, five stars for the experience of addiction staff, and five stars for the overall quality of care. “A very caring addiction staff with a combined over 70 years of experience. Many treatment programs offered,” the employee wrote.</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong> </p> <p>NEHSC accepts self-pay and insurance, in addition to offering a <strong>sliding scale fees</strong> based on income and family size.
