Editorial Review

ABOUT DUKE HEALTH ADDICTIONS PROGRAM

The Duke Health Addictions Program, located in Durham, N.C., is a full-service outpatient psychiatric center. Connected to the larger Duke Hospital system, the facility treats men and women with substance abuse issues and co-occurring mental health disorders.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Patients at Duke undergo intense medical and psychological history so staff can set goals and create a treatment plan that has clear targets for change. It's one of 381 outpatient facilities in North Carolina (72 percent).

Duke offers individual, couple, group and a range of cognitive behavioral therapies at the outpatient center. In addition, the Duke University Hospital Williams Inpatient Psychiatric Unit and Duke Regional Hospital have access to social workers and recreational therapists.

Duke also offers referral service for clients who require more intensive treatment.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Duke has licensed therapists who are trained in psychotherapy and specialize in the treatment of addiction and substance abuse disorders.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Though little information is available regarding the amenities under the Addictions Program, Duke's hospital is rated one of the best in the country by U.S. News & World Report.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

To date, one alum submitted a review to Rehabs.com. The alum gave a largely positive review, rating the treatment effectiveness highly, and wrote, "It's been a long time, but some of the skills I learned are still with me." The alum also gave high marks to the staff and for the accommodations.

On Google, two reviewers left extremely negative reviews, just one star apiece.[1] One reviewer simply wrote, Literally would give 0 stars if possible."

FINANCING

Duke takes most major forms of insurance.

[1] GoogleReviews
