<p><strong>ABOUT HORIZON HEALTH SERVICES – BUFFALO</strong></p> <p>With more than 20 facilities in Western N.Y., Horizon Health Services provides a range of treatment programs for clients dealing with chemical dependency, psychiatric disorders, and <a href="https://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring disorders</a>. In Buffalo, Horizon Health Services operates its corporate office, as well as a <strong>residential treatment program</strong>, <strong>outpatient programs</strong>, and <strong>medically-monitored detox</strong>.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Treatment at Horizon Health Services begins with a ** comprehensive psychiatric and behavioral assessment** to determine the most appropriate level of care. Adults in need of stabilization may be referred to <strong>detox and residential rehab</strong> at the facility’s Terrace House, which can last from seven to 28 days. Once stabilized, clients may then be referred to residential treatment at <a href="http://www.rehabs.com/listings/horizon-health-services-horizon-village-1857339429/" target="_blank">Horizon Village</a>, Freedom Village for Veterans, or an outpatient program. There is also a <strong>residential program for adolescents</strong> called Delta Village. All three residential facilities are in nearby Sanborn, which is 10 miles west of Niagara Falls.</p> <p>Treatment programs focus on establishing safe, family-centric, and community-centered environments where clients can explore their treatment options. The treatment facilities are separated by age groups and tailor the treatment options accordingly. Clients receive counseling, educational, activity therapy, and care planning support from a team of specialists that are trained in working with different age groups.</p> <p>All of the treatment programs use counseling as their main component. Aside from counseling, clients participate in educational coursework to learn more about addiction and coping methods. Family support and counseling is also encouraged.</p> <p>Specialized programs are available for women and veterans. These programs are housed in different facilities and employ a team of specially trained staff members. Pregnant clients can also receive specialized medical and rehab care through the facility’s programming.</p> <p>Ongoing <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/extended-recovery-programs/" target="_blank">aftercare is available</a> for all successful graduates and includes medication-assisted treatment, relapse prevention, recovery coaches, and an online behavioral health program. Clients are encouraged to reconnect with family members and support groups within their communities.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>Horizon Health Services employs a large, multidisciplinary team of nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, substance abuse and mental health counselors, family counselors, and residential aids. Staff members are highly trained and encouraged to pursue continued education and training in their fields.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>The Terrace House offers <strong>68 beds for detox and stabilization</strong>. Located about a half hour away on three acres of peaceful land, Horizon Village is a one-story, 50-bed facility set in two residential wings with 24-double-occupancy rooms and two single-occupancy rooms. Amenities include a dining hall, a fitness center, gardens, a picnic area, a softball diamond, and a basketball court.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>Reviews from the three alumni surveyed by Rehabs.com to date about Horizon Health Services were mixed. Many of the complaints were minor and included slow check-in and payment procedures.</p> <p>Alumni gave four out of five stars or higher for treatment effectiveness, and two five out of five star and one one-star review for the experience level of the staff. Accommodations received three out of five stars or higher. Meals and nutrition earned two five out of five star reviews and one two star review.</p> <p>Though the reviews indicate that the facility offers a <strong>solid treatment program with a knowledgeable and understanding staff,</strong> two of the three alumni gave only one out of five stars for affordability and available counseling options.“The group sessions were inspiring and calming,” wrote one anonymous alum in a representative review. “Meeting with casacs on a regular basis was beneficial for recovery...the quality of treatment was definitely a benefit.”</p> <p><strong>WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY</strong></p> <p>Of the five loved ones polled by Rehabs.com about Horizon Health Services at the time of this writing, four gave the facility positive reviews, while one gave the rehab a negative review. </p> <p>The facility received average ratings of four out of five stars for its cleanliness, 3.6 out of five stars for its staff’s level of training and experience, 3.4 stars for its family participation, its counseling options, and its exercise, leisure, and holistic offerings, and 3.2 stars for its affordability.</p> <p>The sole negative reviewer gave the facility just one star for its treatment effectiveness and noted that the facility was busy and out of control. They recommend picking another facility.
