<p><strong>ABOUT UHS BINGHAMTON GENERAL HOSPITAL</strong></p> <p>Located in Binghamton, N.Y., UHS Binghamton General Hospital is a large <strong>220-bed hospital</strong> that provides 24-hour emergency care and other regional programs, including a behavioral health program and a substance abuse treatment service.** UHS Binghamton General Hospital offers <strong>outpatient, intensive outpatient (IOP), and partial hospitalization programming</strong> (PHP). Substance abuse treatment is available for both men and women of all age groups including adolescents, adults, and seniors. Medical detox services are not available on-site.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Treatment at UHS Binghamton General Hospital starts much like <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/NY17.pdf" target="_blank">the majority of facilities in New York</a> with a confidential assessment to determine the appropriate level of care for each client. The assessment is conducted by trained and credentialed medical staff, and can be used for referrals to other programs as needed. </p> <p><strong>Assessments are completed through appointments</strong>, and the facility provides an appointment management service. If needed, 24-hour emergency services and crisis intervention services are available to stabilize patients psychologically and physically. This does not include medically managed detox services.</p> <p>The New Horizons program is UHS Binghamton General Hospital’s substance abuse treatment program. New Horizons provides treatment through <strong>outpatient services</strong>, making it one of New York’s <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/NY17.pdf" target="_blank">579 outpatient programs for substance abuse</a>. It is also one of the 542 facilities in the state that provide <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/NY17.pdf" target="_blank">services specifically for women</a>.</p> <p>All outpatient programs end with <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/extended-recovery-programs/" target="_blank">aftercare services</a> that may include participation in an intensive step-down program, aftercare planning, and individual counseling. These services are offered in conjunction with outpatient services to promote a smooth transition to a sober living lifestyle.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>The treatment team for UHS Binghamton General Hospital’s New Horizon program includes board-certified addiction counseling specialists, physicians, psychologists, nurses. Social workers and other group leadership personnel are also on site to lead various services. </p> <p>Feedback from the two individuals polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing was mixed regarding the skill level of UHS Binghamton General Hospital’s staff. One reviewer gave a three out of five-star rating and the other gave five stars. The facility is also one of the <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/NY17.pdf" target="_blank">243 facilities in the state</a> that is accredited by the Joint Commission.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>The facility is clinical in nature along the expectations of a major hospital. Clients have access to medical staff at all times in private counseling rooms, large group rooms, and medical offices. Both individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the facility four out of five stars for accommodations and amenities, and a four- and a five-star rating for its cleanliness.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>Rehabs.com has yet to receive alumni feedback to date. On Facebook, the hospital a whole (vs. the Addiction &amp; Chemical Dependency treatment in particular) received 3.5 out of five stars from 136 reviews to date.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> Many reviews praised the staff members, such as Kristin, who wrote: “The nurses,doctor,and reception were wonderful. Both loved ones agreed that certain aspects of the program were effective, giving four out of five stars or higher for family participation and cleanliness.
