ABOUT CORE: COMMUNITIES OF RECOVERY EXPERIENCE

Communities of Recovery Experience (CORE) is a Christian nonprofit that runs two long-term residential recovery programs based in Branson and Springfield, Mo. The treatment provider is among the 29 long-term, non-hospital residential facilities in Missouri. In addition to serving the general public, CORE serves as an alternative to incarceration for non-violent offenders. In Missouri, CORE is among the 30.4 percent of facilities to provide programming for criminal justice clients.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The CORE program lasts a year, during which residents are required to seek employment and to resolve any outstanding legal problems they might have. All residents must participate in random drug and alcohol tests; failing one of these tests results in immediate dismissal from the program.

Treatment is based on the 12-Steps, life skills training, and spiritual instruction. In particular, the 12-Steps are taught in a unique way, through a series of five seminars taught by graduates of the program who have at least a year of sobriety. All clients without high school diplomas are required to attend GED classes. The center also provides classes on job skills, healthy lifestyle choices, personal finance, and parenting.

Following successful completion of the year-long program, residents may participate in a further year-long course that involves completing 100 hours of volunteer service and attending monthly sessions on leadership. This extended-care program also includes a focus on financial responsibility and making amends.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The organization employs 21 staff members, though their credentials are not provided at the time of this writing. There is currently no further information provided by the facility regarding its treatment staff.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Residents sleep in gender-separate family homes, each of which has a house manager but is maintained entirely by residents. Smoking is allowed in designated areas. The two individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date gave CORE a three-star rating and a perfect five-star rating for both its cleanliness and its meals, a three-star rating and a four-star rating for its accommodations, as well as a two-star rating and a three-star rating for its exercise and leisure offerings.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The sole alum polled by Rehabs.com to date gave mixed opinions "Not really there to help u.pricing to high..seems to me everyone who's been thru treatment ..end up doing the same things again" wrote one anonymous reviewer, giving a two out of five- star rating for treatment effectiveness.

Secondary sites yielded mostly positive feedback. At the time of this writing, the center had a 4.7 out of five-star rating on Google based on 13 reviews.[1] The overwhelming majority of reviews were positive, with alumni expressing gratitude to CORE for their continued sobriety and thanking the facility's staff. "I myself went through C. O. R. E. It was the best thing. The people who run it are amazing. They know where we are coming from because they've been there," P.H. wrote in a representative review on Google.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The sole loved one polled by Rehabs.com to date gave four stars for the facility's overall treatment effectiveness and its accommodations and amenities. There are no high quality treatments offered It worked for my loved one, but everyone is different," the survey respondent wrote.

FINANCING

The cost of treatment is subsidized by governmental grants, foundations, tithes, and donations, though residents also pay a weekly fee. However, financial assistance may be available on a case-by-case basis.

[1] GoogleReviews
