<p><strong>ABOUT KALAMAZOO COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES</strong></p> <p>For more than 30 years, Kalamazoo Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (KCMHSAS) have been offering a <strong>wide variety of outpatient programs</strong> to help those struggling with addiction, behavioral health problems, and <a href="https://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring disorders</a>, a programming track offered at <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/MI17.pdf" target="_blank">225 (49.3 percent)</a> treatment centers in the state.</p> <p>KCMHSAS works with numerous community resource agencies to connect clients with health care providers, mental health and substance abuse services, and <strong>housing services</strong>. The facility is also one of the only <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/MI17.pdf" target="_blank">40 (8.8 percent)</a> outpatient Michigan facilities to provide <strong>medically monitored detox.</strong></p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>All clients receive a <strong>comprehensive screening at the facility’s Access Center</strong> to determine what services will be most beneficial. Assessments may include psychological, psychiatric, developmental, and/or neuropsychological screenings. Mental health and substance abuse treatment services are <strong>available to both adults and youth</strong>. </p> <p>Core services available for substance abuse and mental health care include <strong>individual and group counseling</strong>, peer support groups, case management, psychiatric care, <strong>medication management,</strong> and <a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/the-pain-of-addiction-in-the-family-how-counseling-can-help" target="_blank">family support,</a> which includes education and support for loved ones.</p> <p>In addition to its behavioral and mental health concerns, the <strong>KCMHSAS Housing Recovery Center (HRC)</strong> also helps clients find safe, affordable, and sober housing, if needed. Clients enrolled into its outpatient programming have the option to reside in <strong>sober housing</strong> to practice sober living skills while undergoing treatment. </p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>KCMHSAS' provider network includes doctors, mental health specialists, and substance abuse counselors.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>While information is limited concerning the accommodations of the service provider's sober housing, KCMHSAS' website describes sober housing as offering "a safe, stable, temporary living environment..."</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>The sole alum surveyed by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing awarding the facility four and five out of five stars for its holistic offerings, facility cleanliness, counseling options, and its staff’s level of training and experience. “Friendly. Able to help anytime. On time appointment s and nice staff,” they wrote. Still, the former client provided low, two-star ratings for level of family participation and discharge procedures, as well as a moderate rating of three stars for the treatment of co-occurring disorders.</p> <p>Alumni reviews on secondary sites were scarce at the time of this writing, though one individual provided a three-star rating on Google, with no written feedback.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small></p> <p><strong>WHAT STAFF SAY</strong></p> <p>Though Rehabs.com has yet to receive feedback from staff members at the time of this writing, nine reviewers on Indeed gave the facility an average rating of 3.7 out of five stars.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-2"><sup>[2]</sup></a></small> One anonymous reviewer noted, "Co-workers were very friendly and supportive of each other," while another wrote, "Supervision and management too frequently ignore nonproductive staff."
