ABOUT BAY-ARENAC BEHAVIORAL HEALTH

Bay-Arenac Behavioral Health (BABH), located in Bay City, Mich., is outpatient and partial hospitalization facility for adults and children who are struggling with mental illness, substance use disorders, dual diagnosis, and developmental disabilities. A governmental Michigan Community Mental Health Authority, BABH operates centers across the two counties, with its main office is located on the campus of McLaren Bay Region hospital.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The facility offers outpatient-therapy clinical services, which offers a talk therapy approach to help clients with their emotional, mental, and social functioning on a one-on-one basis. Outpatient therapy includes individual and family therapy, assistance with accessing community resources, advocacy and crisis intervention.

BABH’s website indicates that the organization can link clients to medication-assisted treatment such as Suboxone and methadone programs, detoxification, and long- and short-term residential therapy, as well as outpatient programming, though it’s not clear whether these services are provided on-site, or whether BABH provides referrals to them. The facility also utilizes Assertive Community Treatment (ACT), which is an intensive treatment program for adults that have a serious mental illness or co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse issues, who have not benefited from traditional case management or outpatient services. Treatment is provided through a team approach.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to its website, BABH has a team of clinicians. There is currently no specific information regarding treatment staff; however, the facility is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
