ABOUT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER - FASTER PATHS TO TREATMENT

A program of Boston Medical Center (BMC), Faster Paths to Treatment is an urgent care center for individuals struggling with substance abuse disorders. The program offers education on opioid overdose and “rapidly” evaluates, motivates, and refers clients towards more appropriate levels of treatment.

Faster Paths is located on the 1st floor on the BMC Yawkey Center and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Walk-in appointments are accepted.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Faster Paths to treatment is primarily a source of evaluation and referral to addiction treatment. Accordingly, assessments are conducted and subsequent referrals made for medication-assisted treatment (MAT) therapies, like Suboxone and Vivitrol, case management, and community supports.

While the facility does provide treatment onsite, Faster Paths serves as an entry-point for individuals who may require treatment, whether its inpatient- or outpatient-based detox, various levels of treatment, sober housing, or aftercare services.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Per the program’s webpage, clients have access to one of the hospital’s primary care doctors and receive follow-up care from a licensed alcohol and drug counselor (LADC). Of the two alumni surveyed by Rehabs.com to date, one awarded staff level of experience and training a three-star rating, and the other awarded this category a perfect five-star rating.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Feedback from the pair of Rehabs.com survey respondents to date was highly positive. One referred to the staff as “patient, caring and fair,” and found relief in the non-judgmental environment. The alum gave five stars overall to treatment effectiveness and added: "Compassionate comes to mind.Friendly and they don't judge." The other alum to surveyed to date gave perfect five-star ratings for every category, including its admissions and discharge procedures, which is the primary service of Faster Paths.

FINANCING

There is currently no information provided on the program’s webpage regarding its treatment costs; however, the two Rehabs.com survey respondents to date both provided five out of five stars for the center's affordability.
