<p><strong>ABOUT MIRROR, INC.</strong></p> <p>Founded in 1972, Mirror, Inc. is a private <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/KS17.pdf" target="_blank">nonprofit facility, which make up about 54 percent</a> of all treatment facilities in Kansas; it operates three residential programs and 13 outpatient programs. The Newtown facility is <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/KS17.pdf" target="_blank">one of the 25 (13.7 percent) of Kansas centers</a> that offers <strong>residential treatment services. The facility also offers outpatient treatment</strong> and other community health services to adults who are struggling with substance abuse. Detox is not available on site. An <a href="https://www.recovery.org/topics/extended-recovery-programs/" target="_blank">aftercare program</a> is available.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Treatment at Mirror, Inc. begins with a comprehensive assessment upon admission to determine the appropriate level of care. Counselors and admission specialists assess clients to determine the best method of care. </p> <p>Programming includes individual and group counseling. The treatment team utilizes evidence-based treatment methods, focuses on <strong>relapse prevention, and teaches key life skills.</strong> Clients participate in daily and weekly counseling sessions, and educational sessions to develop sober living skills. </p> <p>Clients who need <strong>highly structured and monitored treatment start in the residential program</strong>. However, most individuals begin with outpatient services. The residential program is designed to break each client’s cycle of addiction, and exposes clients to a stable, structured recovery environment. </p> <p>Clients participating in <strong>intensive outpatient treatment meet up to four times per week for up to three hours</strong> per day. The IOP program generally lasts up to six weeks.</p> <p>Mirror also offers specialized programs such as the <strong>Alcohol and Drug Information School (ADIS)</strong> courses, as well as <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/extended-recovery-programs/" target="_blank">aftercare services</a>. The program's continuing care planning focuses on helping client prepare of life back into the community. </p> <p>Clients participate in the <strong>reintegration residential program</strong>, which includes 24-hour care and a structured program of counseling activities, but also offers <strong>work therapy options</strong> in an effort to ease clients back into everyday life.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>The treatment team includes physicians, certified addiction and behavioral health counselors, and nursing staff. When asked if they would recommend Mirror, Inc., they gave two two-star ratings and a perfect five-star rating. </p> <p>One anonymous alum noted that they loved the center. However, another alum noted it was “long, and a little effective.” The other anonymous alum complained about inappropriate male/female relations during treatment, and described the classes as “boring” and “repetitive.”</p> <p>Alumni rated family participation and exercise and leisure activities the highest, each rating both metrics three out of five stars. A lot of people would sneak drugs into the facility, tempting others to use,” they wrote.</p> <p>The other anonymous reviewer, whose husband attended the facility, noted they would recommend Mirror. “He said his councler was wonderful and gave him the confidence he needed,” they wrote. </p> <p><strong>WHAT STAFF SAY</strong></p> <p>To date, the one staff member polled by Rehabs.com gave the Newton facility five out of five stars when asked if they would recommend the center. They also gave the center five stars for the its staff’s level of experience and training.</p> <p>They rated the center’s holistic offerings the least favorably with just two stars. However, the staffer described the facility as “well run and reasonably priced,” and added: “They are not a high end ‘resort’ treatment center but are effective in addiction treatment.”</p> <p>To date, <strong>the 17 staffers to leave reviews on Indeed gave an average of 3.4 out of five stars.</strong> Staffers complained about management, but most staff members wrote they enjoyed working with clients. <small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-2"><sup>[2]</sup></a></small></p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>According to Mirror’s website, the facility accepts Kancare (Kansas’s Medicaid program). Financial assistance is available for clients who qualify.
