ABOUT HOUSE OF HOPE OF MADISON COUNTY, INC.

Founded in 1986 and located in Anderson, 45 miles northeast of Indianapolis, Ind., House of Hope is an independent halfway house that provides transitional living services for men in recovery from substance abuse. House of Hope offers a non-discriminatory treatment program rooted in the 12-Steps. This facility works with the local court system in order to curtail the "grasp of addiction" in the local community.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The center offers two programs: an initial 90-day program at House of Hope, followed, if clients wish, by up to two years at the less restrictive Blackwell House. On both programs, clients must comply with drug and alcohol testing.

At both centers, the program is based on the 12-Steps, and daily Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings are mandatory. These meetings are supplemented by standard treatment modalities: one-on-one counseling, group therapy, relapse prevention groups, and community meetings.

In addition, all residents are required to work or serve as volunteers during their stay, and to complete household tasks: an important part of the center's mission to provide life-skills training and rehabilitation.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The House of Hope offers physician services and 24-hour staffing. Both of the individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date on the staff's level of training and experience gave it four out of five stars.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Laundry services are provided, as is a hot meal every weekday. Clients are allowed off-site, for 12-step meetings as well as work and volunteering commitments, but there's an 11 p.m. curfew. The four individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date on the center's accommodations gave them an average rating of 4.25 stars, and the three individuals polled on the center's cleanliness also gave four- and five-star ratings in this category.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

All three alumni polled by Rehabs.com to date gave positive feedback, with two of the three stressing how accessible and approachable the facility was: "They are a very kind friendly facility help you anytime day or night if u need it," one anonymous alum wrote in a representative review. The two alumni polled on the facility's offerings in a variety of treatment metrics gave it ratings of four and five stars for its holistic offerings, and the single alum polled on the overall quality of the center's individual and group counseling gave it five stars in both categories.

At the time of this writing, secondary review sites yielded exclusively positive feedback about this facility: the center had three five-star ratings on Google.[1] The reviewers repeatedly praised the facility's staff and described their time at House of Hope as life-changing. "The House of Hope not only saved my life but showed me how to live and be an active membee in my community. Extremely grateful for this house and its staff members," J.B. wrote in a representative review on Google.

On the facilify's Facebook page, which it can manage, there is a 4.4-star average rating based on 11 reviews.[2] Only a handful of reviewers left commentary, but it was largely positive. "The House of Hope is the perfect place for changing your life. The caring staff will support you as you begin recovery and learn how to live a sober life," S.F. wrote in their five-star review. G.F. supported that viewpoint, and wrote, "Outstanding facility with caring employees and excellent treatment plans for all ages of men!!"

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The single loved one polled by Rehabs.com to date gave mixed feedback, indicating that they would neither recommend nor not recommend the facility. "Offers a good amount of counseling for patients. Information for families and support while going through rehab.Unfortunately the program did not work long term for my son," they wrote anonymously, though they added that the staff was "wonderful." They gave the facility four out of five stars for its family participation, counseling options, and treatment for co-occurring disorders, but just two stars for its treatment effectiveness.

FINANCING

Fees are charged on a sliding scale. There is currently no further information provided on the facility's website regarding its costs, however, alum A.L.J. told Rehabs.com: "Meals and treatment all free; no cost necessary. HOH is a non profit and runs on donations exclusively."

[1] https://goo.gl/qRcwOS
[2] https://www.facebook.com/pg/andhouseofhope/reviews/
