<p><strong>ABOUT NORWEGIAN AMERICAN HOSPITAL</strong></p> <p>Since 1894, Norwegian American Hospital has been serving Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood through numerous community services. The facility’s Behavioral Medicine program offers <strong>residential treatment</strong> to adults struggling with mental health problems and substance use disorders, as well as <strong>medical detox</strong> (a service provided by only <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/IL17.pdf" target="_blank">3.6 percent</a> of all hospital-based substance abuse treatment facilities in Illinois). There are an additional <strong>15 beds</strong> for those struggling with co-occurring disorders. Meals are provided by various cafeterias on campus, including a Subway. There is also a chapel on-site.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>The one alum surveyed by Rehabs.com to date gave Norwegian American Hospital a highly positive review. The anonymous 40-to-59-year-old male awarded the facility four or five out of five stars for its staff's level of training and experience, its treatment of co-occurring disorders, its administrative and discharge procedures, and its cleanliness. He also gave the hospital four stars for its exercise and leisure activities and noted: "The programs such as art, music and exercise are pretty good."
