Detox services are not offered on-site, but the organization runs a crisis stabilization unit in Cedartown, which is about 25 miles away.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Highland Rivers Health employs a three-phase approach to its substance abuse IOP, with each phase lasting one to two months. As clients progress, they gradually decrease the amount of hours spent in treatment each week, while they increase time in 12-step meetings. Throughout the duration of their treatment, all participants must verify their attendance and submit to random drug tests.

Clients can expect to spend half of the day learning about addiction, attending workshops on coping and life skills, and working on 12-step principles. The remainder is of the time is devoted in group therapy. Clients also may occasionally participate in experiential learning exercises and attend recreational events and go on field trips. Length of treatment typically is 13 to 26 weeks. The IOP also provides medication management, if needed. Family participation is highly encouraged and loved ones can be included in a client’s treatment plan upon request.

Outpatient substance use services for children and adolescents include individual, group, and family counseling, as well as support, education, and referral. The facility also operates an Adolescent Clubhouse, which offers programs on addiction education, prevention, and recovery.

Women struggling with substance use or dependency who are pregnant, postpartum, or parenting children age 13 and younger may attend the residential Women’s Outreach Program. Services include individual, group, and family counseling, testing, treatment, education, relapse prevention, and aftercare. It also provides GED preparation, employment assistance, therapeutic child care, and transitional housing.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

While there currently is no information provided by the facility regarding the Floyd unit’s treatment staff, Highland River Health as a whole employs a team of about 600 professionals, including physicians, nurses, mental health and addiction counselors, program managers, case workers, residential managers, and other support staff. The alum surveyed by Rehabs.com to date gave the facility a rating of four out of five stars for the staff’s level of training and experience.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

J.S., a former client polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing, gave the Floyd facility a mostly positive review. This alum awarded four out of five stars for treatment effectiveness, and three stars for accommodation/amenities and meals/nutrition, as well as for numerous other metrics, such as staff support, leisure and exercise activities, cleanliness, and the staff’s level of training and experience. The reviewer noted that the program was worth its cost and wanted Rehabs.com to know that it provided “Good treatment.”

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

Two loved ones surveyed by Rehabs.com to date gave Floyd Recovery and Wellness Center mixed feedback. One awarded mostly four and five out of five stars across 15 evaluated metrics, including treatment effectiveness, accommodations/amenities, meals/nutrition, family participation, cleanliness, affordability, treatment of co-occurring disorders, and the staff’s level of training and experience. “They knew exactly what drugs and dosage to use,” they wrote.

The other anonymous reviewer told Rehabs.com that the program didn’t help their loved one. However, they noted: “This place seems to be a popular place and has probably helped others. The only experience I have is with my friends' failed attempt at rehabilitation...It didn't seem to do any good, although I realize the patient has to participate in their own care, and he didn't.”

FINANCING

According to the Highland Rivers Health brochure, the facility accepts Medicare, Medicaid, and most commercial insurance plans, as well as VA insurance. Sliding scale fees are available to clients who qualify.
