ABOUT BREAKTHROUGH RECOVERY OUTREACH

Located in Atlanta, Ga., Breakthrough Recovery Outreach (BRO) is a rehab offering a broad range of treatment options to people living in the Atlanta metro area who are suffering from substance misuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. BRO has several residential programs as well as many outpatient options, including intensive outpatient programs (IOP). The center also offers teen-specific treatment and a sober living program.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

According to BRO’s website, the center integrates holistic treatment and evidence-based medical and psychological modalities with the 12 Steps. After an initial assessment, clients are assigned to specific treatment programs based on their needs.

A short-term 28-day residential program is offered for sober individuals who have had a brief relapse. A long-term 90-day residential program is available for clients with more complex conditions. In Georgia, 17.2 percent of non-hospital treatment facilities have residential programs lasting more than 30 days.

The long-term program is a multi-phase process. The Red Phase (days 1-45) is an adjustment period for acclimating to the recovery process and sober living. In the Yellow Phase (days 45-90), clients focus on making major improvements in their recovery. The Green Phase lasts the next 90 days (91-180) and covers the period where new sober living skills are integrated into everyday life. An optional fourth phase involves aftercare and sobriety maintenance.

BRO's IOP program is intended for transitioning clients out of residential programs and back into the community. The program meets three days a week for three hours. Treatment includes group, individual, and family therapy.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to BRO’s website, the treatment team includes counselors, a psychiatrist, a nurse, a nutritionist, a career coach, a career therapist, a music therapist, family therapist, and a massage therapist. Staff members are licensed and accredited appropriately for their respective fields. BRO is among the 186 treatment facilities (59.1 percent) to be certified by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

BRO’s website indicates that residents live in apartments with roommates. During the residential programs, clients participate in holistic and alternative therapies such as meditation, yoga, music and art therapy, massage therapy, reflexology, acupuncture, and qigong meditation.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Though Rehabs.com has not received any reviews from alumni to date, reviews on secondary sites have been positive.
