Editorial Review

ABOUT ASPIRE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH & DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY SERVICES

Aspire Behavioral Health & Developmental Disability (DD) Services is a public, nonprofit organization that provides treatment for adults, children, and adolescents struggling with substance abuse, mental health, and developmental disabilities. Serving Georgia’s Baker, Calhoun, Dougherty, Early, Lee, Miller, Terrell, and Worth Counties, the facility's addiction services include residential treatment for individuals struggling with a dual diagnosis, as well as outpatient care. In Georgia, the facility is one of 15 facilities to provide residential, non-hospital detox services

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Aspire Behavioral Health & DD Services considers addiction a progressive disease that affects an individual’s physical, mental, and spiritual health. Its programs aim to treat the whole person in order to help them to achieve lasting abstinence.

Treatment begins with an addiction assessment along with a psychiatric and nursing assessment, which helps Aspire to determine the best intensity and type of care for the client. Once the client begins detox, residential treatment for a dual diagnosis, or outpatient treatment, treatment programs use individual, group, and family counseling, as well as community support-based services.

As a program designed for co-occurring disorders, clients may also receive ongoing psychiatric assessments and medication management. In addition to counseling, clients may also participate in coping skills workshops, educational classes, and therapeutic recreation.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Apart from noting that Aspire Behavioral Health & DD Services is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), the facility does not provide any further information on its website or elsewhere regarding its treatment staff. In Georgia, the facility is among the 57.9 percent of facilities that are CARF-accredited.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

There currently is no information provided by the facility regarding its living arrangements and related offerings. However, a former client’s loved one polled by Rehabs.com wrote of the facility: “It was falling apart.”

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

At the time of this writing, Rehabs.com has not yet received reviews directly from alumni of this facility. On Google, 16 reviewers awarded Aspire Behavioral Health & DD Services an average rating of 3.2 out of five stars. [1] Some of the feedback was highly positive, such as the four-star review from Mike, who wrote: "The people are beautiful and facility is clean." I got to my appointment on time but the doctor wrote me down as a no show." On its Facebook page, which the facility may have the ability to control, three individuals gave ratings of five stars, and a fourth gave a one-star rating.[2]

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The single review submitted to Rehabs.com by a loved one to date was negative. “It was not a good environment,” the anonymous reviewer wrote, giving the facility only one out of five stars for its overall effectiveness and indicating that they would not recommend it to others. However, they did award Aspire Behavioral Health & DD Services five out of five stars for both its addiction treatment and mental health treatment.

WHAT STAFF SAY

At the time of this writing, the facility received an average rating of 3.1 out of five stars from 12 reviews from employees on Indeed.[3] In a four-star review, a former health service technician wrote: "Working at Aspire was a daily learning experience and overall a great place to work.
