(RESADA) offers a residential program and outpatient programs for clients seeking treatment for substance abuse. Pregnant women and women with dependent children may also access care through specialized treatment tracks. Additionally, RESADA provides DUI education, urinalysis and breathalyzer testing, relapse prevention services, and case management. Detox is available on site. Aftercare planning services are also available to clients that complete treatment.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Upon admission to RESADA, clients undergo an initial assessment to determine an appropriate level of care. All clients must undergo an observational detox period before enrollment in the 30-day residential program. The observational period typically lasts between two and five days. Clients are assessed by trained specialists for medical and other conditions. At the completion of the detox, clients work with specialists to create an individualized treatment plan.

Treatment consists of a range of approaches to the disease model of addiction. Coupled with cognitive behavioral therapy, RESADA’s treatment program utilizes the 12-Step model of recovery. Clients participate in local support groups, including Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.

Clients also participate in relapse prevention education courses. These courses focus on developing coping skills and learning more about addiction. Clients complete courses concurrently with their clinical treatment schedule.

RESADA offers specialized tracks for pregnant women and mothers. They receive treatment for their addiction behaviors while participating in courses focused on parenting skills and women’s issues. Clients also work with case managers to coordinate the services and gain the resources that they need to care for their families.

Upon completion of the residential program, RESADA provides case management and aftercare services, which include referrals to outpatient treatment, sober living facilities, vocational training, and other community-based services. Along with the facility’s traditional outpatient program, RESADA offers multiple levels of DUI education and treatment which can be used to satisfy legal requirements for clients. Family participation is encouraged throughout treatment.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The treatment team at RESADA includes experienced substance abuse counselors, admissions counselors, and case managers. Licensed DUI program instructors and other instructors may be on site for educational courses.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

RESADA’s facilities are clinical, office, and classroom areas. The residential environment is highly structured. There is a staffed kitchen on site. The one alum polled by Rehabs.com gave the center’s accommodations a perfect five-star rating. Meals are served cafeteria-style, and no outside food items are permitted on-site. Clients are allowed one pre-arranged, hour-long visit from a family member or small group of family members each week. All visits must occur on the facility’s grounds.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

At this time, Rehabs.com has collected one survey response from a former client of RESADA. Alum Wendy provided a five out of five star rating for treatment effectiveness, accommodations, and the level of staff support. She expressed appreciation for the no-frills environment and useful instruction she received. “It was a no BS facility… I was taught the steps I needed to recover and also to be around people with the same problems,” she wrote.

She gave one out of five stars exercise and leisure offerings, connectivity, and individual counseling.

On CiteHealth, the facility had mixed reviews with a single one-, three- and five-out-of-five star review. [1] While reviewers praised the treatment program’s effectiveness and the staff, one had problems with the co-ed housing and the regular drug testing.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The two loved ones surveyed by Rehabs.com submitted more mixed reviews. Neither loved one would recommend the facility to others. Loved one C.J. provided the program’s treatment effectiveness with a three out of five star rating and specifically noted the staff’s “empathy” as a strength. Yet they shared some concerns about the therapy provided. “Lack of counseling and in-depth treatment modalities,” they wrote.

R.L. was less impressed with the center’s treatment effectiveness, awarding it only one out of five stars. She specifically disliked the lack of family involvement and the absence of fitness programming for clients. “They need to have a way that the parents can interact They need some type of exercise program that would be able to help keep their minds off their addiction problem I think it is vital that the family be able to talk to the pts at anytime not on certain days times etc,” she wrote.

FINANCING

According to the facility’s website, treatment costs are based on a sliding fee scale, but clients must pay a minimum of $500 for residential treatment. Lodging is charged separately at $12 a day, and meals are covered by food stamps. RESADA accepts cash, money orders, cashier’s checks, and credit cards and debit cards with a 4% fee.

[1] http://citehealth.com/rehab-centers/colorado/cities/las-animas/region-six-alcohol-drug-abuse
