<p><strong>ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH SYSTEMS - FAMILY RECOVERY CENTER</strong></p> <p>The Mental Health Systems - Family Recovery Center, located in Oceanside, Calif., offers <strong>residential and outpatient treatment to women seeking treatment for substance abuse.</strong> The facility operates as a branch of Mental Health Systems (MHS), one of California’s <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/CA17.pdf" target="_blank">699 private, non-profit treatment organizations</a>. It was founded in 1978 to provide mental health and addiction recovery services. MHS operates more than 85 community-based programs throughout California. The Family Recovery Center facility focuses specifically on promoting healthy family reunification. Detox is not available. </p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>MHS-FRC is focused on bringing families back together. It offers services to adult women as well as children’s services. That way, clients can get the help that they need to bring their family back together and live a healthier life. </p> <p>In California, only <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/CA17.pdf" target="_blank">54.5 percent of facilities</a> offer treatment options specifically for women. MHS-FRC provides a wide range of services including HIV testing and mental health assessments. There is also a crisis intervention service to help clients begin the treatment process. </p> <p>The facility’s treatment program follows a <strong>holistic approach.</strong> To be admitted, clients must contact MHS-FRC directly via phone. Clients are required to be <strong>pregnant or parenting women.</strong> The facility offers three treatment programs: residential treatment, day treatment, and outpatient treatment. It is one of only <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/CA17.pdf" target="_blank">389 facilities in California</a>. That provide treatment for pregnant and postpartum women. </p> <p>Throughout treatment, clients are eligible to receive <strong>individual counseling, mental health services, parenting education, case management, child therapy, and crisis intervention.</strong> MHS-FRC is one of the few facilities that provide job training and counseling. Clients work with counselors alone and in groups as a community or families. Family Recovery Center also offers a <strong>licensed daycare program</strong> for infants, toddlers, and preschool aged children of program participants called the Child Development Center.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>MHS-FRC employs a team of trained counselors, family counseling specialists, substance abuse counselors, and childcare specialists. One alum surveyed by Rehabs.com about the level of staff support gave five out of five stars. </p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>Clients have access to a range of counseling and medical treatment services. Clients often work with case managers to coordinate treatments. If needed, clients can also stay in the <strong>transitional housing units</strong> while preparing to leave the treatment program. During their stay, the children of clients have access to daycare programs. Both alumni surveyed by Rehabs.com gave the facility five out of five stars for accommodations and amenities and for meals and nutrition. The single alum polled about the facility’s cleanliness gave five stars. </p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>At the time of this writing there have been two alumni polled by Rehabs.com about the Family Recovery Center. Both alumni gave five out of five stars for treatment effectiveness. The alum polled on additional metrics gave five out of five stars for its holistic offerings, visitor policy, and its exercise and leisure opportunities.</p> <p>On Google, MHS Family Recovery Center earned an average rating of <strong>3.7 out of five stars from 15 reviews to date</strong>. <small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> Most reviews are five out of five star reviews. However, several reviewers expressed that they had bad experiences with the facility. Alum J.H., who gave five stars, expressed that she was happy to have received treatment at Family Recovery Center. She wrote “This place continues to change my life if it wasnt for family recovery center i would have never got my kids for the 2 time thank you again.” L.S., an alum, did not agree with that viewpoint. She gave one star and wrote “most of the program and people running it have no idea what they are doing, very unorganized and you will get forgotten, pushed around and have to mindfully keep track of your own recovery.”</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>Clients often use <strong>self-pay options</strong> to pay for treatment. The organization is a non-profit and is open for government funding. It also accepts donations to support services. According to the facility website, all women are provided services regardless of their age, race, sexual preference or economic status. Clients are encouraged to contact the facility directly for additional information regarding financing.
