ABOUT FLAGSTAFF MEDICAL CENTER

Northern Arizona Healthcare’s Flagstaff Medical Center offers clients a range of medical and behavioral health services, including one of the state's 43 (12.6 percent) short-term inpatient programs and amongst Arizona's 165 (48.4 percent) intensive outpatient (IOP) programs.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

According to its website, the inpatient program at Flagstaff Medical Center treats individuals with emotional and behavioral disorders - such as depression, mood disorders, suicidal or homicidal thoughts, psychosis - or a substance abuse problem. Group therapy sessions are led by a master's level clinician.

Meeting three evenings a week for group therapy and educational sessions, the IOP track covers a variety of themes central to long-term recovery. Topics like nutrition, early recovery skills, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) help those chemically dependent develop coping and communication skills necessary for long-term abstinence. Aftercare takes place according to need, and can last up to six months.

The center’s outpatient program offers individual, couples, and family therapy for all ages as well as psychological testing, presurgical bariatric psychological evaluations, treatment for gambling, and treatment for child trauma.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Members of the Behavioral Health treatment team include master’s level clinicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and licensed professional counselors.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

There's currently no information provided by the center regarding its living arrangements and related offerings. However, the two individuals surveyed by Rehabs.com to date provided mixed feedback: R.D. gave a five-star rating for accommodations but a one-star rating for meals, and the other reviewer provided five stars for meals but just three for accommodations.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

R.D., an IOP alum who liked the flexibility of the program, reported to Rehabs.com: “The most important part of recovery is a spiritual program. One must find a higher power in order to stay Clean and Sober, try Alcoholics Anonymous. It works!!!!!!" She provided five out of five stars for the level of staff support as well as the center's extracurricular activities, ultimately agreeing that the program was worth the cost.

The other alum surveyed to date, who remained anonymous, provided four stars for treatment effectiveness and commented, "Medically is very top notch, quite a sterile environment though.Heavy medical expertise. Not enough holistic care."

Secondary sources also revealed positive recovery experiences throughout Flagstaff Medical Center. As of this writing, it has average ratings of 4.4 stars out of five from nearly 700 reviews on Facebook (which it can manage),[1] 3.4 stars from 111 Google reviewers,[2] and 3.5 stars from 58 Yelp reviews.[3] Note, however, these ratings cover the entire center, not just its behavioral health department.

FINANCING

On its webpage, the Flagstaff Medical Center maintains that “Many insurance plans now cover CD-IOP programs.” Prospective clients may call the center directly with questions related to insurance.

[1] https://www.facebook.com/pg/flagstaffmedicalcenter/reviews/?ref=page_internal
[2] GoogleReviews
[3]https://www.yelp.com/biz/flagstaff-medical-center-flagstaff
