<p><strong>ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH CENTER OF NORTH CENTRAL ALABAMA</strong></p> <p>The Mental Health Center of North Central Alabama is a <strong>501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to meeting the psychiatric and mental health needs of individuals, families, and communities</strong> in northern Alabama since 1967. Today, <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/AL17.pdf" target="_blank">one of just 77 (59.7 percent of) nonprofits in the state</a>, the established community-based agency serves three counties in northern Alabama through <strong>treatment and educational services offered across outpatient clinics, schools, transitional housing programs, and courthouses</strong>.</p> <p>According to its <a href="https://mhcnca.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/MHC-Information-Handout-Dec-2018.pdf" target="_blank">information handout</a>, the Mental Health Center served 3,679 children and adults in the 2017-2018 fiscal year.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>The Mental Health Center aims to “provide treatment, education and assistance to people affected by mental health and substance use issues.” Services are backed by <strong>more than a half century of experience</strong>and include <strong>psychiatric assessments, outpatient counseling for co-occurring substance use (SUD) and mental health disorders, case management, and medication prescription</strong>.</p> <p>Of its five different outpatient programs, the Mental Health Center runs <strong>three clinics for the general public, one for children (The Albany Clinic for Children), and one for seniors</strong>. The latter of these, the Options Geriatric Program, is designed to provide services “directly” to residents of nursing homes along with their families and nursing home staff. The Mental Health Center also serves the general public via <strong>educational presentations on mental health</strong>.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>According to its website, the Mental Health Center of North Central Alabama has over 160 staff across its multiple locations. Staff consist of <strong>child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrists, licensed and certified social workers, case managers, nurses, and licensed professional counselors (LPCs)</strong>.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>The Mental Health Center of Northern Alabama offers more than 50 beds across five transitional group homes and one permanent home. The center is also <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/AL17.pdf" target="_blank">one of just 47 (36.4 percent of) in the state that provides <strong>door-to-door transportation services</strong> for clients</a>.</p> <p><strong>REVIEWS</strong></p> <p>In the sole Rehabs.com survey response to date, reviewer John claimed that treatment is effective insofar as a client “truly wants rehab.”</p> <p>In addition, the Mental Health Center has an average rating of 4.6 out of five stars from seven Facebook users as well as a pair of one-star Google reviews. While a Facebook user felt the center had “the best medical treatment from great doctors and nurses and the best therapy in North Alabama” a Google reviewer voiced frustration with the facility’s waiting list: “She said it was be weeks out before could see a Dr. I would have to do therapy!
