ABOUT QUALITY ADDICTION MANAGEMENT (QAM) IN WAUKESHA, WI

Quality Addiction Management (QAM), located in Waukesha, Wis., offers outpatient detoxification treatment to adults struggling with addiction to narcotics. The facility was founded in 1984 by two medical doctors, and has offered treatment for narcotic addiction since 1997. Quality Addiction Management operates six other facilities throughout Wisconsin offering the same services. The other facilities are located in Racine, West Milwaukee, Green Bay, Beloit, Madison, and Sheboygan.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

To be admitted, clients should call the QAM facility in their area. Before admission, clients must undergo a physical exam and must complete an initial intake history assessment. Most Quality Addiction Management facilities are open from 6 AM to 2:30 PM Monday through Friday and from 7 AM to 10 AM on Saturdays.

The facility’s treatment program centers on the use of methadone to eliminate cravings and physical withdrawal symptoms. Methadone is a synthetic opiate that is administered orally each day under the supervision of medical doctors. According to the QAM website, Methadone treatment may cause mild, easily managed side effects. In addition to receiving prescribed Methadone, clients also participate in individual and group therapy, treatment planning, health counseling, a yearly physical exam, and urine drug testing.

Treatment is intended to keep clients as comfortable as possible while facilitating recovery, eliminating cravings and drug use, and improving life functioning such as employment, family relationships, physical and emotional health. Quality Addiction Management seeks to provide these services in a confidential environment similar to a private medical practice.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The treatment team at Quality Addiction Management includes two medical doctors. Both doctors on staff are certified by American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM).

REVIEWS

The one alum polled by Rehabs.com at time of writing gave QAM's Waukesha facility a positive review. The anonymous client gave the facility four out of five stars for affordability and family participation, and five stars for cleanliness. Though the alum experienced difficulties regarding the facility's acceptance of insurance, they nevertheless thought the facility was worth the cost. When given the opportunity to add additional commentary, the alum wrote, “Standard methadone maintenance program.”

On the facility’s unofficial Facebook page, there is an overall rating of three out of five stars based on two total reviews. [1] One reviewer gave Quality Addiction Management five out of five stars, but did not leave any commentary explaining their experience. The other reviewer, an alum who gave one star, accused the QAM management of being motivated by money. They wrote, “I had the WORST experience here and was kicked off the program for SOMEONE ELSE stealing my doses! I told them this and begged him not to discharge me as I have children that I must care for.”

FINANCING

There is currently no information provided by Quality Addiction Management regarding its costs, but the facility describes itself as “low-cost”. QAM accepts Medicaid and T-19 coverage. Clients are encouraged to contact the facility directly for additional information regarding the cost of treatment.

[1](https://www.facebook.com/pages/Quality-Addiction-Management/115942585134349)(https://www.facebook.com/pages/Quality-Addiction-Management/115942585134349)
