<p><strong>ABOUT UNITED SUMMIT CENTER - SUBSTANCE ABUSE RESIDENTIAL</strong></p> <p>United Summit Center is a <strong>private nonprofit behavioral health organization</strong> with several locations throughout Harrison, Marion, Lewis, Taylor, Braxton, Doddridge, and Gilmer counties in northcentral West Virginia. <strong>Residential chemical dependency</strong> treatment in Clarksburg is provided at the Bob Mays Recovery Center. Services at Bob Mays are only available for <strong>male and female West Virginia residents aged 18 to 24</strong>.</p> <p>United Summit Center also provides <strong>outpatient services</strong> in other locations for adults and children struggling with substance misuse and mental health disorders. Additionally, the organization provides <strong>crisis services and DUI programming</strong>. A second residential treatment program is offered at the John D. Recovery Center in Terra Alta.</p> <p>According to a <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/WV16.pdf" target="_blank">2016 SAMHSA survey</a>, private nonprofit organizations comprise over 75 percent of treatment facilities in West Virginia.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Treatment at the Bob Mays Recovery Center lasts up to <strong>three months</strong>. Clients who require additional residential treatment after the three-month period are referred to other sober living homes in the area. In West Virginia, Bob Mays Recovery Center is one of 17 facilities to offer <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/WV17.pdf" target="_blank">specialized programming for young adults</a>. </p> <p>According to United Summit's website, the residential treatment program involves clients in the following: basic addiction education, <strong><a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/how-a-non-religious-journalist-makes-a-case-for-aa-in-2017/" target="_blank">12-step recovery work</a></strong>, learning to live drug free, <strong>developing a recovery plan</strong>, dealing with relapse, and education for <a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/the-pain-of-addiction-in-the-family-how-counseling-can-help/" target="_blank">family members</a>.</p> <p>Once a client completes residential treatment, they may be encouraged to transition into the organization's intensive outpatient program. The Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program is a <strong>six-week program</strong>, which consists of <strong>three-hour intensive group therapy sessions</strong>, three times per week. Throughout the program, participants are also frequently drug screened and/or breathalyzed to ensure accountability. </p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>Services are provided by certified substance misuse counselors. Though the facility does not list any additional information regarding its staff, the single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the center five out of five stars for the level of support received from staff.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>The facility at Bob Mays Recovery Center has <strong>16 beds</strong>. There is currently no further information provided by the facility regarding living arrangements and related offerings; however, the single individual polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the facility five out of five stars for cleanliness, accommodations and amenities, meals and nutrition, and exercise and leisure offerings.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>S.L.A., the sole alum polled by Rehabs.com to date, provided exclusively positive feedback. The alum gave the facility five star stars for all metrics evaluated, including <a href="https://www.recovery.org/forums/discussion/7265/what-is-holistic-treatment-and-how-can-it-help" target="_blank">holistic</a> offerings, counseling options, and family participation.</p> <p>The alum wrote: "Bob Mays Recovery Center is absolutely wonderful. There is nothing whatsoever that I can say negatively. The staff is so caring. I really miss all of them. I learned so much and thanks to them and myself, I am remaining clean and sober!"</p> <p>At the time of this writing, <strong>secondary review sites yielded mixed feedback</strong>. According to the facility's website, services are frequently provided for no fee or at a reduced price, for un- and underinsured clients who qualify for financial aid. </p> <p><strong>CONCLUSION</strong></p> <p>In June of 2018, United Summit Center began <a href="http://www.connect-bridgeport.com/connect.cfm?func=view&section=Health-Fitness&item=BHS-Partners-with-United-Summit-Center-to-Offer-Free-Mental-Health-Support-Group-for-Teens31590" target="_blank">partnering with local school districts</a> to support teens and improve mental health.
