Editorial Review

ABOUT TRIUMPH TREATMENT SERVICES - COMMUNITY DRUG & ALCOHOL CENTER & HOUSING PROGRAM

The Triumph Treatment Services - Community Drug & Alcohol Center & Housing Program (CDAC), which is located in Yakima, Wash., offers outpatient treatment and sober living facilities for adults struggling with substance abuse, as well as a parent-child assistance program (P-CAP). This location serves as the administrative offices and outpatient hub for the organization’s drug and alcohol treatment services.

The Triumph Treatment Services organization has been in existence for more than 50 years providing assistance to individuals in need of rehab. It operates multiple facilities in Yakima and across the Lower Valley. The CDAC operates 10 of the 173 private, for-profit facilities operating in Washington across downtown Yakima to the Lower Valley.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

In order to be admitted for at the CDAC, clients must directly contact or stop by the main offices at 102 S. Naches Ave., Yakima, Wash. to complete an assessment. An intake specialist meets with the client to gather general information and then schedules an appointment for a full assessment. A chemical dependency professional will complete an assessment to determine the appropriate level of care to meet each client’s personal treatment needs.

At this point, it will be determined if an individual requires short or long-term residential care, outpatient treatment, or Alcohol Drug Information School (ADIS).

CDAC’s outpatient program provides treatment in a group setting along with other clients who are recovering from the same chronic disease and conditions. The outpatient program allows clients to live at home and continue to work while receiving professional help.

In addition to group therapy, clients may also receive individual and family therapy. Family therapy is designed to provide clients’ family members with the skills needed to overcome disorders and to prepare to help clients with their continued recovery. Family counseling services are offered to nearly 72% of all rehab clients. Relapse prevention education is also made available to prepare clients for a continued recovery outside of treatment.

The CDAC is one of the 21% of facilities that offers programs specifically for pregnant women. It has the P-CAP, which is an intervention program offering home visits for women struggling with substance abuse during pregnancy. The goal of the program is to prevent future alcohol and drug-exposed births among the mothers in the program. The program provides assistance to mothers in completing substance abuse treatment, staying in recovery, and choosing family planning methods following delivery.

P-CAP is a part of the Department of Social Health Services’ Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery. Mothers who recently had a child can take advantage of the childcare services available on Tuesday and Thursday while continuing treatment.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The treatment team at CDAC includes clinical chemical dependency professionals, clinical mental health counselors, housing supervisors and case managers, resident managers, child advocates, parenting program educators, therapeutic teachers, and child care assistance along with other administrative and support staff.

ACCOMMODATIONS AND AMENITIES

The CDAC offers several living facility options in different areas. There is an emergency family shelter which is available for homeless families. This facility also comes with case management to help families have services covered. CDAC operates Connections, which has 49 apartments for individuals, and utilities are included with the studio and one-bedroom apartments.

There is also the Housing Family center, which has a total of eight units big enough for families. Aside from those, CDAC operates Parkway Place Apartments, My Brother’s House, Thor Housing, Passage House, and Sage House. They are facilities that provide specialized housing for adults and children in adult, gender-specific units.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Although Rehabs.com has yet to receive alumni feedback to date, secondary review sites revealed generally positive opinions. On the facility’s Google reviews page, the facility received an overall rating of 3.2 out of five stars based on 19 total reviews.[1]

Individuals left mixed reviews. Alum E.N., who gave five stars, wrote “These guys are the best of the best at any price. There's no fancy frills. It's kind of old and a little run-down. But if you want to recover from drugs or alcohol this is the best that money can buy.” J.A., another alum, did not agree with that viewpoint. He gave one star and wrote, “Worst place ever they don't let you go just so they can keep making money hope karma gives them what they deserve money hungry pigs.”

On the facility’s Facebook page, which it can manage, there is an overall rating of 4.4 out of five stars based on 24 total reviews.[2] Twenty one of the reviews were positive. Alum V.G., who gave five stars, wrote “I will forever be grateful for triumph...I could not picture life any other way!!!”

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

At the time of this writing, there has been one loved one polled by Rehabs.com regarding Triumph, who gave the facility a positive review. The anonymous loved one gave the facility five out of five stars for family participation and cleanliness, but only two out of five stars for affordability.

He agreed that the facility had high-quality holistic offerings; that the facility’s cell phone and visitation policies were fair; and that the treatment and services offered at the facility were worth the cost. He also felt that a strength of the facility was the counseling but that treatment was also expensive. “Great people working very friendly and helpful,” he wrote.

On Facebook, K.H., a loved one whose child entered the facility, did not support that viewpoint. She gave one star and wrote “My experience at this place was a nightmare...I was the outcast being the only women of color in there facility it was the most difficult experience in treatment I have ever had.”

FINANCING

The CDAC accepts private insurance, CA Reunite, Medicaid, and self-pay. The facility is also only part of 7% of facilities nationwide to accept tribal funding. A sliding fee scale based on personal financial income is also available.

Utilities are included with the Connections housing program and costs up to $500 per month. Other housing programs charge a $500 non-refundable security deposit, though monthly rent may vary. Rent is collected on the first day of every month and is considered late on the sixth day. A $25 late fee is added and a $5 fee per day is accumulated until it is paid.

CONCLUSION

The CDAC is working toward relocating some of its operations. The administrative operations are relocating to a new building in Yakima, which will free up more space for outpatient services at the Yakima facility. The facility tries to give back to the community by providing services and working with community members to help others. For example, Jeanette Vargas works with the CDAC by hosting a Friday group for women designed to help them get started on their recovery.

[1] GoogleReviews
[2] https://www.facebook.com/pg/TriumphTreatmentServices/reviews/
