<p><strong>ABOUT SEADRUNAR SEATTLE DRUG & NARCOTIC CENTER</strong></p> <p>Founded in 1968, Seadrunar is a <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/WA16.pdf" target="_blank">non-profit treatment facility, one of 183 (42.8 percent) in the state of Washington</a>, that offers <strong>medically managed detox,long-term residential treatment and sober-living facilities</strong> for men and women 18 and older who are struggling with addiction. <strong>Clients must be referred by a local substance use disorder agency</strong>.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>According to Seadrunar's website, detox generally lasts three to five days and is provided in a 16-bed unit. <strong>Treatment is gender-separate,</strong> and for residential care, the length of stay is <strong>generally 9 to 12 months</strong> depending on the individual’s needs.</p> <p>Seadrunar is operated on the <a href="https://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/research-reports/therapeutic-communities/what-are-therapeutic-communities" target="_blank"><strong>therapeutic community model</strong></a>, in which peers and recovery professionals help residents identify destructive patterns and learn new coping skills.</p> <p>The first step of long-term residential treatment is a 45-day blackout period. During this period, <strong>residents have no contact with anyone outside the facility</strong> except for medical or legal reasons. Following this phase, clients are allowed three calls, which have the be approved by staff, and three letters a week. Treatment includes group sessions, individual counseling, and educational seminars. </p> <p>The Recovery House is designed to provide a gradual re-entry period to clients. While in the sober living house, residents are allowed three calls a week and mail. <strong>Programming includes group therapy, educational sessions, and monthly individual counseling.</strong> The treatment team focuses on work, social, and academic guidance. </p> <p><strong>Before moving out, all clients must have employment, housing, and a budget;</strong> the facility helps residents find safe, clean housing. All clients may participate in six months of <a href="https://www.recovery.org/topics/extended-recovery-programs/" target="_blank">aftercare.</a> Aftercare planning includes at least on group and individual counseling. </p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>Seadrunar's website notes the residential facilities are monitored 24/7 by live-in staff. The program is run by chemical dependency professionals and counselors. Most staff members have graduated from Seadrunar’s program. Children receive medical care, participate in structured leisure activities, and an elementary school is across the street for school-aged children. The center is located next door to a <strong>park with walking trails and a basketball court</strong>. Two of the alumni polled on treatment effectiveness gave four out of five stars, and the other gave five stars. </p> <p>The three alumni agreed that treatment was tough, but effective. "It's tough, no cake walk. However you learn that stress and life complications can be overcome without drugs...Loved it butust reiterate NOT A CAKE WALK," an alum wrote in a representative review. </p> <p>Secondary review sites yielded mostly positive feedback. The 17 people who left Google Reviews for the center to date gave an average of 3.9 out of five stars. Positive feedback praised the staff, called it a "life-changing" place, and thanked the center. "Seadrunar is an amazing place! They all gave four or five out of five stars when asked if they would recommend Seadrunar Seattle Drug & Narcotic Center. They also gave four or five stars for treatment effectiveness. </p> <p>However, the loved ones did provide some complaints including bad visiting hours, the cost, and only treating addiction one way. Yet, the loved ones also praised the staff, great treatment programs, and overall effectiveness. "They helped my family member kick a drug habit when no other options had worked. This was a last resort and was a lifesaver," a loved one wrote. </p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>This center accepts <strong>Medicaid</strong>.
