<p><strong>ABOUT SOUND RECOVERY CENTER</strong></p> <p>Located 10 miles southeast of downtown Tacoma, Wash., Sound Recovery Center treats adult men and women struggling with substance abuse and <a href="https://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring disorders</a>, primarily through <strong>a few intensities of outpatient treatment and a partial hospitalization program (PHP).</strong> Medical detox is not available on-site, but the facility can make a referral to a local detox facility.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Sound Recovery Center subscribes to the disease model of addiction, and <strong>uses the 12-Steps.</strong> According to its website, the facility treats the mind, body, and spirit. There is a <strong>30-day minimum commitment,</strong> but some clients are in treatment here for more than 90 days.</p> <p>Treatment begins with an individual assessment. Afterward, the primary mode of treatment seems to be the facility’s PHP program. Treatment combines evidence-based practices, education about addiction, and 12-step meetings.
