<p><strong>ABOUT AUGUSTA PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATES</strong></p> <p>Located outside the small town of Fishersville in rural Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, Augusta Psychological Associates is one of the <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/VA16.pdf" target="_blank">202 (82.2 percent)</a> treatment facilities in the state to provide <strong>outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse treatment</strong>. Services are for adults, as well as <strong><a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/is-my-child-just-experimenting/" target="_blank">children and adolescents</a></strong> (a feature of only <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/VA16.pdf" target="_blank">59 Virginia facilities</a>), and seniors (programming offered by just <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/VA16.pdf" target="_blank">20 facilities in the state</a>). The facility has been providing services in the area since 1983.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>The facility takes a <strong>harm-reduction approach</strong> to substance abuse treatment while also providing counseling to address any emotional or mental-health disorders underlying the addiction.</p> <p>In addition to substance abuse, Augusta Psychological Associates treats a <strong>variety of conditions</strong> including anxiety, <strong>mood disorders</strong>, grief and loss, and problems managing stress and other intense emotions. The facility is also one of the only <a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/is-my-child-just-experimenting/" target="_blank">88 (38.4 percent) in Virginia that works with clients dealing with <strong>domestic violence</a></strong>. Psychological and neuropsychological testing, which includes personality and cognitive assessments, are available, and counseling is also offered for <a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/the-pain-of-addiction-in-the-family-how-counseling-can-help/" target="_blank">families</a> and couples.</p> <p>These services are similarly offered to adolescents, <a href="https://www.samhsa.gov/data/sites/default/files/NSDUHsaePercents2016/NSDUHsaePercents2016.pdf" target="_blank">3.65 percent of whom (ages 12 to 17) needed but did not receive treatment</a> at a specialty facility for substance use in the past year.</p> <p>Children ages two and up receive specialized treatment that can address autism spectrum disorder, behavioral and conduct issues, ADHD, mood disorders, anxiety, childhood maltreatment, and transition issues.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>The treatment team includes <strong>M.D.s,</strong> licensed clinical social workers, licensed professional counselors, <strong>a licensed substance abuse treatment practitioner</strong>, and a licensed clinical psychologist. Additionally, in Virginia, <a href="https://www.samhsa.gov/data/sites/default/files/report_3059/ShortReport-3059.pdf" target="_blank">97.3 percent of substance abuse treatment centers has continuing education requirements for staff</a>.</p> <p>The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date on the level of staff support they received gave the facility’s staff gave four out of five stars in this category, and the single loved one polled on the staff’s level of training and experience gave it five stars.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>Although no information is available regarding the facility structure and its related offerings, the single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date awarded cleanliness four stars, and the single loved one polled to date awarded cleanliness five out of five stars. </p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date gave positive feedback. “I WENT FOR DEPRESSION, ANGER, ANXIETY. I GOT THE HELP I THOUGHT I NEEDED. Drs are kind and explains everything to you,” the anonymous reviewer wrote.</p> <p><strong>WHAT STAFF SAY</strong></p> <p>Though Rehabs.com has yet to receive feedback from facility employees, the single staff review on Indeed at the time of this writing was highly positive.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-2"><sup>[2]</sup></a></small> “Crazy fun place to work.
