ABOUT FAIRFAX DETOXIFICATION CENTER

Located in Chantilly, Va., about 30 miles west of the District of Columbia, the Fairfax Detoxification Center is one of the 14 (6.1 percent) facilities in the state that offers a short-term, non-hospital residential detoxification program. Treating adults, the facility provides buprenorphine treatment for opiate withdrawal, as well as outreach and social detoxification. Individuals with co-occurring disorders receive specialized treatment, as well as pregnant/postpartum women and Spanish-speaking individuals.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Clients are assessed to determine their needed level of care. Most clients are enrolled in the 24-hour supervision detox unit for immediate detox services. They receive around-the-clock care from trained medical staff members. In some cases, clients can be enrolled in a supervised care system where medical staff oversees their treatment up to 18 hours per day. This is based on the severity of detox services needed and the individual client’s assessment.

Psychiatric services are provided as needed along with medication management to treat any psychological symptoms. In addition to medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to address to the physical symptoms of withdrawal, clients also undergo a series of counseling treatments including individual, group, and family counseling while in treatment. In Virginia, the facility is among the 35.9 percent of facilities to provide buprenorphine, such as Suboxone and Subutex.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its treatment staff; however, 97.3 percent of substance abuse treatment facilities in Virginia have continuing education requirements for staff.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its living arrangements and related offerings.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Rehabs.com had yet to receive reviews from Fairfax Detoxification Center’s alumni at the time of this writing. Reviews on secondary sites are similarly scarce, though on Google, the facility earned five out of five stars from two reviews to date.[1] No additional written commentary was available.

WHAT STAFF SAY

J.M.T., the single staff member surveyed by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing, gave the facility a positive review, referring to it as a “medically safe haven for the detoxing of patients.”

She awarded the facility five out of five stars for its treatment of co-occurring disorders, its willingness to put clients’ interests first, the experience of its medical and addiction staff, its privacy, and its protocols for aftercare. She also gave the facility five stars for its overall quality of care.

FINANCING

The facility accepts a wide range of private insurance and public insurance options including Tricare, Medicaid (accepted by 59 percent of Virginia facilities), and Anthem Blue Cross.
